When I was in grade two my teacher to us about the " kusang palo "

Kusang palo is the willingness to do anything that is not being asked.

Example : You voluntarily washed the dishes after eating without any command from anyone.

I was 8 years old back then, I was so excited to go home and apply our lesson which is the " kusang palo " I want to suprised my mom that I learned it from school and as a child I want my mom be proud on me.

Its Saturday in the morning, there is no classes and I have time to do household chores. My mom was not in the house and this is the best time to do the chores and to surprised him.

I look for the chores that I can do, I saw the drum in the comfort room and it looks empty so I decided to pour a water on it. Back then, the only source of water in our hometown is balon or deep well. I fetched water in the deep well to fill the drum in the comfort room. Its a bit tiring because fetching water is not that easy.

I am so excited to be praise by my mother but its didnt happened 😑

He yells at me and said " youve fetched water from the deep well but you didnt clean the drum first before pouring the water. He said it in an angry face. After that she poured all the water to the soil and my effort was wasted. As a child I dont know that I need to clean the drum first, all I know that time is I want to help my mom.

Are you wondering about the title? Why the title is about nail? Well, a while ago I saw a nail. As we know nail need to be pushed by hammer to get attached with certain things. In Filipino if people said that you're like a nail, you are a person that you need to asked a favor first before doing a task. You dont have the kusang palo or the willingness to do such task.

I just thought about this story of mine because of the nail that I saw 😄
