We will be given opportunities to identify and analyze our emotional reactions and recognize appropriate emotional response in a particular situation. An emotional response is not bad, They are normal and they only show that we are human and alive and that our brain is functioning well, However what is wrong is when we mismanaged our feelings.
This is what happens when we miss managing our feelings.
When we give an incorrect emotional response. To feel sad without reason, or to be sad when in fact, you should be happy, means that you are not reacting correctly to a given stimulus.
When you allow a negative mood for an extended period. to feel anger, frustration, sadness, or grief beyond the normal, acceptable period is not healthy. When you allow that feeling to take hold of you and your faculties longer than what is necessary, then it becomes a cause for concerns, In fact, even the bible has something to say about this when it says,"Don't let the sun go down on your anger.
What do you lose when you miss managed your moods?
We lose precious time, brooding consumes time- time that could have been used for more important things.
We lose energy, Feeding an emotion eats up strength. It makes you lose the energy to do something productive.you lose motivation to work and you become mentally and emotionally fatigued without accomplishing anything.
You lose direction. you tend to forget that you have a purpose in life. You mishandled mood makes you blind to what is truly important. you lose focus and life becomes derailed.
You lose touch since all you focus on is yourself, you block out the people around you. Self-pity drives away company.
So how do we manage our moods? Remember the letters A, B, C, D, E and F
Analyze your feelings, your moods come out based on how our brain analyzes the situation you are in. Sometimes the assumptions that our brain makes is not always correct.it is advisable therefore to gather your wits together, gathered facts if necessary, before jumping to a conclusion or before unleashing a barrage of emotions.
Create a happy atmosphere. When you are already feeling lonely, it is foolish to listen to sad music or to shut yourself in your room with the lights offend the curtain drawn, This kind of atmosphere would only add yo your already depressed mood, instead go out with your friends or call them. If you must, you can give your self a treat.
Discipline your thoughts. You will only make your mood worse when you give in to thinking more about it. When you already feel bad, you will only make matters worse when you start worrying about that one thing that caused you to be in that mood in the first place.
Entrust everything to God.No matter what circumstances you find your self in, remember there is a God who does not sleep. He understands. He also has the power to change your situation. It is mankind's greatest privilege to invited by God to cast all their worries on Him who can definitely put a stop to all of these.
Fix it up. Don't wait for your mood to go away. Make it go away, This might call for decisive action, but if that's the only way to make it go away, then you must do it.
When we mastered the art of managing our moods better, then we are definitely on our way to making our life a success.
