These bright yellow lichens are often found on tree trunks in our area.
When magnified, this yellow spot turns out to be some special world with amazing shapes.
I identified it using the Internet as Xanthoria parietina. It has wide distribution, and many common names such as common orange lichen, yellow scale, maritime sunburst lichen and shore lichen.

In June 2019, I went on a cruise on the Oka. On the way there were beautiful Russian cities.
One of them is Murom. It was there, in the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery, that I unexpectedly saw a small menagerie.
I was interested in chickens of different breeds. You don't often see them in a regular zoo.
I really liked the phoenix roosters.
This is a European selection of the Japanese long-tailed breed. Their tail must be very long. Wikipedia says that it should be at least 3 meters. Petushki from the monastery cannot boast of such wealth. But what is there, I was personally very impressed.
In Japan in the Middle Ages, such beautiful birds were kept for the emperor. To keep their chic tails, they were kept in tall and narrow cages on high perches.
In Murom, the birds have a relatively spacious aviary where they walk.
However, for some reason, the most beautiful cockerel is interested in neighbors, and not in his hens.

В июне 2019 я побывала в круизе по Оке. На пути были прекрасные русские города. Один из них – Муром. Именно там в Спасо-Преображенском монастыре неожиданно для себя я увидела небольшой зверинец.
Меня заинтересовали куры разных пород. В обычном зоопарке нечасто их увидишь.
Очень понравились петухи породы феникс.
Это европейская селекция японской длиннохвостой породы. Хвост у них должен быть очень длинный. В Википедии пишут, что он должен быть не менее 3-х метров. Петушки из монастыря таким богатством похвастаться не могут. Но и то что есть, лично меня очень впечатлило.
В Японии в средние века таких красивых птиц содержали для императора. Чтобы сохранять шикарные хвосты, их держали в высоких и узких клетках на высоких насестах.
В Муроме у птиц относительно просторный вольер, по которому они гуляют.
Однако, самый красивый петушок почему-то интересуется соседями, а не своими курочками.

On this flower, several insects acquaint with nectar at once. Large Eurasian bee beetle (Trichius fasciatus) . From a distance, I thought it was a bumblebee. And it turned out to be a beetle unfamiliar to me, which I had to identify using the Internet. Amazing yellow and black pattern. Interestingly, there is also a small beetle at the top left of the frame, and also with a beautiful pattern.

Maria, the writer's sister, gave the couple medicinal nicknames: Brom and Hina. And when they grew up, Chekhov added patronymics to the names. For solidity. So Hina Markovna and Brom Isaevich remained in history.

Таксы – смешные, но при этом необычайно активные, ловкие, весёлые и отважные собаки, которые остаются неизменно популярны. Антон Павлович Чехов, поселившись в Мелихово и собираясь завести породистых собак, тоже не устоял перед их очарованием.
Весной 1893 года прибыла из Петербурга пара щенков от такс чеховского знакомого, редактора «Осколков» Лейкина.
Мария, сестра писателя, дала парочке лекарственные клички: Бром и Хина. А когда они повзрослели, Чехов добавил к именам ещё и отчества. Для солидности. Так и остались в истории Хина Марковна и Бром Исаевич.
Чехов часто беседовал с каждой из собачек, так и обращаясь к ним по имени и отчеству. В 2012 году в усадьбе открыли памятник этим собачкам. Автор Александр Рожников.
Кроме того, в память о них, в мелиховской усадьбе ежегодно проходит фестиваль «Таксы Чехова». Традиционно в начале сентября. Я была в 2016 году. Там очень мило и по-домашнему. Таксам определённо нравится такая тусовка в прекрасном месте.
Конечно, памятник самому Чехову тоже есть в Мелихово.

I was on a cruise on the Volga in June 2018. The farthest point of our route was the beautiful city of Plyos. I knew that this city is associated with the name of the famous artist Isaac Levitan. It was there that he worked hard and painted many landscapes.
We did not immediately notice a wonderful monument, about which we knew nothing.
Levitan himself just stands on a hill and paints a picture, as he did when he lived in Plyos. No pedestals, the artist just stands on the ground.
The only negative that we felt in this city was the evening hordes of mosquitoes. We must pay tribute to the realism of the monument: the photo shows that the mosquito is trying to feast on the blood of the artist.
This is a relatively new monument. It was opened in 2012. The sculpture was created by the Credo team and an art casting workshop in Kostroma. I think it turned out very well.

В июне 2018г. я была в круизе по Волге. Самой дальней точкой нашего маршрута был прекрасный город Плёс. Я знала, что этот город связан с именем знаменитого художника Исаака Левитана. Именно там он много работал и написал множество пейзажей.
Мы не сразу заметили замечательный памятник, про который ничего не знали.
Левитан собственной персоной просто стоит на холме и пишет картину, как делал это, когда жил в Плёсе. Никаких постаментов, художник стоит просто на земле.
Единственный минус, который мы ощутили в этом городе – вечерние полчища комаров. Надо отдать должное убедительности памятника: на фотографии видно, что комар пытается полакомиться кровью художника.
Это относительно новый памятник. Он был открыт в 2012-ом году. Скульптуру создавал коллектив «Кредо» и мастерская художественного литья в Костроме. Мне кажется, получилось очень удачно.

In June 2019, my friend and I went on a cruise on the Oka. One of the cities we visited was Murom.
I took this photo in the Holy Trinity Monastery. Here, as a shrine, the relics of Peter and Fevronia are kept. For the Orthodox, this married couple is a symbol of love and fidelity. Not surprisingly, the monastery has a lot of beautiful flowers. In June, the mock orange (Philadelphus) bushes were just strewn with white fragrant flowers. It has such a strong sweet aroma that the people stubbornly call these flowers jasmine.
I liked this shot, where beautiful white flowers and snow-white temples of the monastery united.
The temples here are ancient, 17th century. On the left is the Trinity Cathedral, on the right is the multi-tiered bell tower of the gate church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

В июне 2019 мы с подругой побывали в круизе по Оке. Один из городов, которые мы посетили, был Муром.
Эту фотографию я сделала в Свято-Троицком монастыре. Здесь в качестве святыни хранятся мощи Петра и Февронии. Для православных эта супружеская пара – символ любви и верности. Неудивительно, что в монастыре очень много красивых цветов. В июне как раз были усыпаны белыми душистыми цветами кусты чубушника. У него такой сильный сладкий аромат, что в народе эти цветы упорно называют жасмином.
Мне понравился этот кадр, где соединились прекрасные белые цветы и белоснежные храмы монастыря.
Храмы здесь древние, 17 века. Слева - Троицкий собор, справа многоярусная колокольня надвратной церкви в честь иконы Божией Матери «Казанская».

I captured this scene from the intimate life of insects recently during a short trip to the Middle Volga.
The natural zone there is forest-steppe. As it turned out, there are many plants and animals in this zone that I do not see in the Moscow region. It's always very interesting. White flowers are Crambe tataria. It don't grow in my region. This white bush was very attractive to various insects that literally dotted it. For the competition, I chose these brightly colored bugs - Eurydema ornata. They are similar to the soldier bugs we meet (lat. Pyrrhocoris apterus). But the pattern on the red shell is different.

Природная зона там – лесостепь. Как оказалось, там много растений и животных, которых я не вижу в Подмосковье. Это всегда очень интересно. Белые цветы – это Катран татарский (лат. Crambe tataria). У нас они не растут. Этот белый куст очень привлекал разных насекомых, буквально усеявших его. Для конкурса я выбрала этих ярких крестоцветных клопов разукрашенных (лат. Eurydema ornata). Они похожи на встречающихся у нас клопов-солдатиков (лат. Pyrrhocoris apterus). Но рисунок на красном панцире отличается.

At the end of May I had a short vacation and my friend and I went on a 4-day tourist trip to the Volga. By train we arrived in Syzran.
We arrived at the Syzran-1 station (not a very big city has 5 railway stations!).
This station is a beautiful building of the 19th century.
On the square is a model of the first Russian steam locomotive of the Cherepanov brothers.
As well as a real Soviet steam locomotive L-5184, produced in the late 1940s. In 2014, it was erected as a monument at the station square.

Прибыли мы на вокзал Сызрань-1 (не в очень большом городе 5 железнодорожных вокзалов!).
Это вокзал – красивое здание 19 века.
На площади макет первого российского паровоза братьев Черепановых.
А также настоящий советский паровоз Л-5184, выпускавшийся в конце 1940-х. В 2014 году его поставили в качестве памятника на привокзальной площади.

I have already shown a corner in the Berlin Nikolaiviertel district, where a monument to St. George is erected. Now I want to tell a little more about this monument.
St. George is one of the most revered Christian saints. The most famous of his feats is the battle with the serpent. According to legend, the snake, who lived in the lake, terrorized the city. The ruler of the city persuaded the inhabitants to appease the snake - to sacrifice young men and women, promising that his daughter would not escape this fate when the turn comes to her. And he was going to keep his word. The crying princess was met by the warrior and he asked about what was happening. After listening to the maiden, the warrior promised to fight the destroyer. It was George. He entered the battle with the serpent, and, summoning the God to help, struck the monster.
It is this moment that is usually depicted on all the numerous monuments to St. George and the icons. Usually George strikes a snake with a spear. But on the Berlin monument he has a sword. In the other hand he holds a standard with a cross.
In the final of the story, the grateful inhabitants of the city accept Christianity and glorify the God.
German sculptor August Kiss сreated this remarkable monument in 1853. Initially, the sculpture stood in the inner courtyard of the City Palace. But, when the ruined Nikolaifiertel district was rebuilt after the Second World War, the monument was moved to the embankment of the Spree. There he now stands since 1987.
This sculpture is very interesting to consider. Very carefully worked out all the details. The dragon near seems very convincing with this scales, thorns, teeth. And the emotions of the frightened horse, which George directs directly to the dragon, are transferred very well.

Я уже показывала уголок в берлинском районе Николаифиртель, где установлен памятник святому Георгию. Теперь я хочу рассказать об этом памятнике немного подробней.
Святой Георгий – один из самых почитаемых христианских святых. Наиболее известный его подвиг – сражение со змеем. По легенде змей, живший в озере, терроризировал город. Правитель города уговорил жителей для умиротворения змея приносить ему в жертву юношей и девушек, пообещав, что и его дочь не избежит этой участи, когда очередь дойдёт до неё. И собрался сдержать своё слово. Плачущую царевну встретил воин и расспросил о том, что происходит. Выслушав девицу, воин пообещал сразиться с губителем. Это был Георгий. Он вступил в битву со змеем и, призвав на помощь господа, поразил чудовище.
Именно этот момент обычно и изображают на всех многочисленных памятниках святому Георгию и иконах. Обычно Георгий поражает змея копьём. Но на берлинском памятнике у него меч. В другой руке он держит штандарт с крестом.
В финале истории благодарные жители города принимают христианство и славят господа.
Создал этот замечательный памятник в 1853 году немецкий скульптор Август Кисс. Изначально скульптура стояла во внутреннем дворе Городского дворца. Но, когда разрушенный квартал Николаифиртель восстановливали после 2-ой Мировой войны, памятник перенесли на набережную Шпрее. Там он сейчас и стоит с 1987 года.
Эту скульптуру очень интересно рассматривать. Очень тщательно проработаны все детали. Дракон вблизи кажется очень убедительным с этой чешуёй, шипами, зубами. И эмоции испуганной лошади, которую Георгий направляет прямо на дракона, переданы очень хорошо

К сожалению, из меня плохой папарацци. Когда мы подходили, котик лежал на этом камне в идеальной для всей картинки позе. Но, пока я достала фотоаппарат и прицелилась, он увидел и встал.

Я была там 1 мая 2013 года. Обратите внимание, справа внизу видно, что на широкой дороге пешеходы идут не только по тротуару, но и по проезжей части. Это потому, что в честь праздника 1 мая перекрыли движение для машин.

This beauty dog I met when I was at rest at the dacha. My friend and I went to the local market. The day was hot. Near the leaking pipe stood this black dog, catching trickles of water.
I took out the camera, but the dog, seeing us, immediately left her occupation and ran out onto the path. She lay across the road in front of us.
The dog looked into our eyes (and into the lens of the camera) and changed the pose.

Nikolaikirche is the oldest church in Berlin. The first version was built in the XIII century. But since then the church has changed its appearance. The facade with two towers, which you see in the photo, appeared after reconstruction in the late XIX century. During the Second World War the church suffered greatly. So do not be surprised that the walls of the towers look brand-new: they began to restore Nikolaikirche only in 1981. Now there is a museum in there. Also concerts are held there.
Spectacular bronze sculpture in the foreground is a monument to St. George, who striking dragon. I really liked the monument. He makes a strong impression of the composition as a whole. At the same time, all details are strikingly made: the armor of George, the dragon. The German sculptor August Kiss created this monument in 1853.

Фотография с вечерней прогулки по берлинскому району Николаифиртель в апреле 2015 года. Низкие лучи солнца уже не проникают на площадь, окрашивая золотистым светом лишь макушки домов. Зато Николаикирхе – церковь, давшая название этому району, смотрится необычайно нарядно.
Николаикирхе – самая старинная церковь в Берлине. Первый вариант был построен в XIII веке. Но с тех пор церковь меняла свой облик. Фасад с двумя башнями, которые вы видите на фотографии, появился после реконструкции в конце XIX века. Во время 2-ой мировой войны церковь сильно пострадала. Так что не удивляйтесь, что стены башен выглядят новенькими: восстанавливать Николаикирхе начали лишь в 1981 году. Сейчас там музей. Также в ней проходят концерты.
Эффектная бронзовая скульптура на переднем плане – это памятник святому Георгию, поражающему дракона. Памятник мне очень понравился. Он производит сильное впечатление композицией в целом. При этом поразительно сделаны все детали: доспехи Георгия, дракон. Немецкий скульптор Август Кисс создал этот памятник в 1853 году

Thanks to the Internet, now this red handsome cat has become very famous. He has a page on vk.com and an official blog in Instagram. His post sounds solid - the senior meow officer of the Vyborg Castle.
I was in the castle in August 2017. When I saw the imposing cat, who was sitting on the table in the museum, I honestly did not know that he was so famous. Then I read about it on the Internet and saw it on TV. But he is so charming that I immediately took a picture of him. However, everyone who entered the museum did the same. Sir Philimon was engaged in hygiene and did not pay absolutely no attention to visitors and their cameras.

Сэр Филимон занимался гигиеной и не обращал совершенно никакого внимания на посетителей и их фотоаппараты.

During a cruise on the Volga in 2018, we spent one day in Plyos. This city is closely associated with the magnificent Russian artist Isaac Levitan.
After all the excursions, we climbed Mount Levitan, as the locals call it. In the foreground you can see a wooden staircase that you can climb. The center of attraction is the wooden Church of the Resurrection of Christ.
One of Levitan's most famous landscapes "Above eternal rest". On it is the same church and the wide expanses of the Volga.
In fact, the church that Levitan painted burned down in 1903. For a long time there was nothing on the mountain. But in 1982, a wooden church built in 1699 was transported from the village of Bilyukovo and installed on a mountain in Plyos. Its architecture is very similar to the lost church.
I regretted that we had little time and we could not look for a point from which the artist could paint a picture. But it turned out that we would not have found. In the picture, Levitan depicted Lake Udomlya near Vyshny Volochyok. And the church at the same time "took" from Plyos.

После всех экскурсий, мы поднялись на гору Левитана, как её называют местные жители. На переднем плане видно деревянную лестницу, по которой можно поднятся. Центром притяжения является деревянная церковь Воскресения Христова.
Один из самых известных пейзажей Левитана «Над вечным покоем». На нём та самая церковь и широкие волжские просторы.
На самом деле, церковь, которую написал Левитан, сгорела в 1903г. Долгое время на горе ничего не было. Но в 1982г из из села Билюково перевезли деревянную церковь 1699 года постройки и установили на горе в Плёсе. По архитектуре она очень похожа на утраченную церковь.
Я пожалела, что у нас было мало времени и мы не могли поискать точку, с которой художник мог написать картину. Но оказалось, что мы бы и не нашли. На картине Левитан изобразил озеро Удомля около Вышнего Волочка. А церковь при этом «взял» из Плёса.

I want to introduce to you an unusual bird, that I saw at the Berlin Zoo. The bird is rare. When you look at it, of course, it is understandable why the genus was called Bald Ibis.
Such dandy with tuft are a forest ibis (Geronticus eremita). It's sad, but only two kinds of bald ibises survived to this day. </td>
They are found in the Mediterranean. But if in the north of Africa and in Turkey they are still found in nature, in the south of Europe there is practically no more.
And, in fact, in the 15th century forest ibis were a fairly common bird in Europe. They belong to the stork and like the storks, they settled next to the man. What turned out to be fraught with them. Meat of forest ibis was highly valued, including in the royal kitchens. Merciless extermination almost led to the disappearance of these birds. In the 19th century, settlements of forest ibises were found in Morocco and Turkey. Now they are under protection. But in nature, the number is still shrinking. In captivity, birds feel themselves well and willingly multiply. In the Berlin Zoo, there are a whole flock.

Я хочу представить вам необычную птичку, встреченную в Берлинском зоопарке. Птица редкая. При взгляде на неё, конечно, понятно, почему род назвали Лысым ибисом.
Такие вот пижоны с хохолками – это лесной ибис (Geronticus eremita). Печально, но лишь два вида лысых ибисов дожили до наших дней.
Водятся они по Средиземноморью. Но если на севере Африки и в Турции ещё встречаются в природе, то на юге Европы уже практически нет.
А, ведь ещё в 15 веке лесные ибисы были довольно распространённой в Европе птичкой. Они относятся к аистообразным и, как и аисты, селились рядом с человеком. Что оказалось для них чревато. Мясо лесных ибисов высоко ценилось, в том числе и на королевских кухнях. Нещадное истребление почти привело к исчезновению этих птиц. В 19 веке обнаружили поселения лесных ибисов в Марокко и Турции. Теперь они под охраной. Но в природе численность всё равно сокращается. В неволе же птички себя чувствуют хорошо и охотно размножаются. В Берлинском зоопарке их целая стая.

This photo was taken in Budapest in 2014. I always try in different cities to climb up some sort of observation platforms. It helps to present the city as a whole, it's better to orient yourself. It is very interesting to view from the height on various famous buildings of cities.
But it can also be interesting to look closer and see in a completely different perspective the place or building on which the observation platform is located.
This is just the case. We climbed the platform, located on the dome of the Basilica of St. Stephen. This is the largest temple in Budapest. It was built in the XIX century. Looking down at the roof, on the edge of which there are sculptures, we complemented the impressions of the cathedral.

Эта фотография сделана в Будапеште в 2014 году. Я всегда стараюсь в разных городах подниматься на какие-то обзорные площадки. Это очень помогает представить город в целом, лучше сориентироваться. Очень интересно рассматривать с высоты различные знаменитые здания городов.
Но ещё бывает интересно взглянуть поближе и увидеть совсем в другом ракурсе то место или здание, на котором находится площадка.
Это как раз такой случай. Мы поднялись на площадку, расположенную на куполе Базилики святого Стефана. Это самый большой храм Будапешта. Он был построен в XIX веке. Взгляд вниз на крышу, по краю которой стоят скульптуры, дополнил впечатления от собора.

Today Russia is celebrating Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. For me, this is the day of memory of my grandfathers who fought in that war. My mother's father died and did not return from the war.
This year it's a very strange Victory Day when right now Russia is at war...
I spent the day at home. I took this photo on May 9, 2018. The memorial in my city, which lists the names of the Elektrostal inhabitant who did not return from the front, where an eternal flame burns in memory of them, on May 9 was simply littered with flowers. I was there when all the official events had already ended. But people kept coming and bringing more and more flowers.

Сегодня в России отмечают День Победы в Великой отечественной войне. Для меня это день памяти моих воевавших на той войне дедов. Мамин отец погиб не вернулся с войны.
В этом году это очень странный День Победы, когда прямо сейчас Россия ведёт войну...
Я провела день дома. А эту фотографию я сделала 9 мая 2018 года. Мемориал в моём городе, где перечислены имена не вернувшихся с фронта электростальцев, где горит в память о них вечный огонь, 9 мая был просто завален цветами. Я была там, когда все официальные мероприятия уже закончились. Но люди всё подходили и приносили новые и новые цветы.
