Benefits and Drawbacks of Freelancing You Should Know
I have been doing freelancing in various niche for some time now. Like doing those social media graphics jobs, writing jobs and also handling the community. I have been doing this in afterhours of my job.
And it's been decades worth of the experience where I managed to learn some of the new things from the freelancing. I also learned that a lot of issues coming with the freelancing that can make or break freelancing lifestyle.
Spending lot of time into freelancing I thought why not share my experience and teach people on how to do freelancing effectively. So I have documented some of my experience here.
Let's talk about freelancing and how it can have good and bad points with your life as you put in efforts into freelancing and we can learn to find out ways out of the same.
Freelancing Sets you free from Month-end Paycheck
When you want to have control over the paycheck and not get locked down to the income out of the job. This is where you join with the freelancing as an income source. Where you get paid weekly, daily and as per the project pay off.
Every month end you can see that freelancing gives you more control over how you can get paid from your projects and clients. This type of the freedom and flexibility you don't find with the job.
Jobs often lock you till specific months salary and it arrives in your bank account with specific date and time. So here you have to think of the freelancing which has ability to give you regular work.
Freelancing gives more freedom on Work Options
Do you hate sitting by the same table and same office for years? This is where you have to understand that freedom is something you don't have. Though it can pay you good income but earning won't be that good per year.
You are kind of locked into the job as long as you want or the company wants. So that kind of locks you. And also you get locked with the freelancing freedom is where you can choose when to work, where to work and how long to work as well.
This is where the freedom of the work and the place is where you work plays big role when you are doing the jobs. Work skills can also be learned and you can switch to different jobs or the office work too.
Freelancing is Risky on New Client Locking
When you are working on one job. You are kind of locked into one work and one company. You can get different work from the company if they want you to do that. But that is not something always happen.
In freelancing you have to constantly change the work. You have to constantly change on how you can do the work for the clients. So you are in the risky side. You can also lose the work.
You find freelancing as more of risky when it comes to payout too. Because a lot of clients run halfway unless you get them to commit to yourself. Some of the things that you would find with it is that locking clients with contract and some amount is a necessity.
Fluctuating Income
Freelancing is one of the worst thing though. You may find that earning regular income out of it is not easy. Some jobs pay more than the other. You may also notice that income may not sustain unless you get new client.
You may find that client can leave any time. So you have to regularly find new clients. And you also have to find out if the income is going to have a good standing and recurring income too.
So when you want recurring income, job is better than freelancing. If you can get recurring income, then freelancing can be a good option. It all depends on how regular your income can be in the long term.
You Need Discipline
You work from home. You work outside as a freelancer doesn't matter. If you work sitting for long hours you may end up being lazy and also may not sustain your work routine for long.
You need to have a discipline for years. You need to have that in order to earn income. You have to understand that discipline is how you get better with your life as well. That's the point I have learned so far.
If you are workoholic that could go wrong for your life too. You may have to understand the fact that having the routine and also working on getting new work is how you build the life much consistent.
Freelancing is a good source of income. You can do this part time or the full time and you can make decent amount of income out of the same. You should definitely try out the freelancing if you want to add more revenue to your bank.
