FOODlog #81: Mini Pork Patty Stew
Last week my Dad came back for lunch and my Mum cooked some of his favorite dishes. She cooked a fairly simple lunch of 1 meat dish and 1 vegetables dish with some steam white rice.
The meat dish was some mince pork patties cooked with potatoes which we call it at home as Chinese burgers. It's minced pork patties that's been pan fried and then set aside to then cook with a gravy with potatoes that's made with onions roughly cut into quarters, roughly minced garlic, fresh tomato that's been quartered and seasoned with soy sauce, oyster sauce, some salt. The mini pork patties are added back to the pot and 2 cinnamon sticks are added to the mix and left to stew for about 10-15 minutes until the potatoes are soften.
It's super delicious and fairly simple to cook that you have got to try making this dish at home.
The vegetable dish was a stir fry in a wok of long beans, onions, 'petai' also known as sticky beans, and brinjal. The long beans are cut up into about 2 inch long sticks and the brinjal as quartered and then cut into 2 inch pieces as well. It's all stir fried in some oil and then seasoned with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and some salt. Similar seasonings for both the meat and vegetable dish but two entirely different flavor profiles.
We ate these 2 dishes with white rice as usual, a staple here in any home.
