FOODlog #69: Malaysian Chicken Rice

Every now and then I'll crave for chicken rice. Maybe it's because it's something I've been eating all my life and although it's a fairly simple dish with basically just chicken and rice, it sure is delicious and hits the spot that'll satisfy.

Here is a chicken rice that my Mum had takeaway for us for lunch last weekend. We just recently went to this area to eat 'Char Kuey Teow' and now this time having chicken rice from another stall at the area. They serve really nice chicken rice and also some other roasted meats like roasted pork and also roasted barbecue pork.

Chicken Rice with Roasted Pork Belly

For my lunch, I got a mixture of roasted chicken and also roasted pork belly which had a nice crispy crust on top and the meat was tender and so flavorful. The rice is steamed with chicken oil which gives a lovely aromatic flavor to the rice and pairs perfectly with the moist chicken. It was garnished with a mixture of sliced spring onions and coriander leaves to give some crunch and freshness to the dish.

It also comes with a side of chili sauce made from chili and lime which is tangy and spicy and a perfect accompaniment with the savory rice and chicken. A super delicious and satisfying lunch which I'm thinking of having this weekend again :D
