FOODlog #63: Malaysian Chinese Takeaway Meal
Last week my Mum bought back some delicious food. She got me some 'Nasi Lemak' as well as other dishes for the whole family for our lunch and dinner.
Here are some of dishes we had:
- Ayam Rempah
This is chicken that has been deep fried with grated ginger and lots of other spices hence the name it's called 'rempah' which means spices. It was aromatic and so flavorful from all the spices and ginger that it was marinated and then fried with. The fragrance was phenomenal.
- Ladies Fingers with Fermented Soy Beans
This were cooked whole ladies fingers with soy beans and seasoned with soy sauce. It tasted well balance from the saltiness of the fermented soy beans and the soy sauce with the natural sweetness and freshness of the ladies fingers.
- Fish Fillets with Spring Onions
This is a very popular Chinese dish and one of my favorite cooks on a fish fillet. The fish fillets are super tender as they've been cooked on a super high heat for a very short amount of time, making the fish fillets perfectly cooked and moist. The sauce is made from fresh spring onions, some ginger and garlic and soy sauce.
- Pork Belly with Salted Vegetables
This dish is pork belly and salted vegetables that have been stewed. The pork belly is super tender and melts in your mouth and the vegetable gives the whole dish a savory saltiness that pairs well with the richness from the pork belly.
Had all this with 'Nasi Lemak' and it was super delicious! Classic Chinese Malaysia dishes that is so satisfying.
