FOODlog #6: Malaysian Western Breakfast

Mum cooked breakfast today. Haven't had this in awhile so it was a real treat. She made spam (luncheon meat) and eggs.

It's really common here in Malaysia as we don't have easy access to smoke bacon. Luncheon meat is a more preferred choice of meat to replace the "bacon" in a bacon & eggs breakfast.

The luncheon meat is pan fried in a pan to cook it and get the edges crispy. The eggs are simply fried with some oil sunny side up and seasoned with some salt.

For my home, we always eat this with slices of bread. I heard some other families have ketchup or chili sauce with this, but I prefer mine like this.

Sometimes when we're rushing for time and can't sit down to eat this at the table, we'll make a sandwich, slap a slice of cheese and maybe mayo and have the breakfast on the go.

A simple breakfast but super delicious and fulfilling. What a great way to start the day.
