FOODlog #224: Malaysian Maggi Goreng with Spicy Tofu
The next day after me and my wife went for a late supper, the next day she had work in the morning till after lunch so I had a rare day to myself as well and had lunch at a nearby place which opened recently.
Its a 'mamak' restaurant that serves all the usual local food that you expect at a 'mamak'.
I ordered a plate of 'Maggi goreng' which I haven't had in awhile and wanted to also try whether this place serves good wok fried items.
The noodles we fried with onions, garlic, birds eye chili to give it some spiciness and the seasoning packet that comes with the instant noodles packet.
It was alright in the taste but the noodles were slightly under cooked and a little on the dry side.
I also ordered a plate of tofu which I had with the noodles. Although it look kinda mild in color it was spicy and flavorful. It added some good extra flavor to the noodles.
The most surprising thing for me was that when I went to pay, it only cost me RM7.30 (<2 USD) total. I was expecting around RM8-10 since inflation has been really kicking in on food especially so I was pleasantly surprised when it was loser than what I expected.
