Wife cooked a really nice lunch today. She cooked some Chinese 5 spice Braised Pork. Its a dish that uses pork belly, 5 spice, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, a whole bulb of garlic, and some hard boiled eggs.
It's a simple dish but takes an hour or 2 depending on how thick the cut of pork belly is. For ours it's less than half an inch so it'll take about 45 minutes to an hour.
If you can marinate the pork overnight would be the best but if you are rushing, just 15-20 minutes would do. The pork belly is marinated with soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and the five spice powder.
The bulb of garlic, you don't even have to peel it. Just throw the whole thing in and let it work its flavoring magic to the stew. Add water to cover the stew and bring it up to a boil. Once the water is boiling, turn down to the lowest heat and simmer covered for an hour.
Ate this with white rice. You can also serve this with steamed buns. Super yummy, super delicious!
Have a good time dear
