Last week my Mum cooked a Hakka dish for our lunch. We don't eat this very often but whenever she cooks this, it's a real treat for us.

It's a dish made with pork belly and preserved vegetables. She uses two types of preserve vegetables, a sweet preserved vegetable and a salty preserved vegetable. There are places that sell this dish but mostly only use the salty type. My Mum uses both and it gives more complexity and flavor to the dish overall.

The pork belly is soft and tender and because it's stewed with the preserved vegetables, it absorbs all the delicious flavors from it and makes the pork belly extremely flavorful.

We had this for lunch and dinner. For lunch we ate it with rice and for dinner we ate it with porridge (congee). I super love this with porridge especially! ~~

Another dish we had was a mix vegetable stir fry of bell peppers, carrots and broccoli. Its simply stir fried with garlic and oil and seasoned with some salt and oyster sauce.

What a delicious meal it was!
