FOODlog #161: Mainland Chinese Muslim Food
Last week when my sister-in-law came to stay at the house, we bought some food from our favorite Chinese Muslim restaurant to have for dinner. It's been awhile since we last ate food from this restaurant so it was really a treat!
We ordered their famous lamb ribs which are boiled then till tender then deep fried for a nice crispy exterior. It's then stir fried in dried chili, onions, spices, and peanuts. The flavors are extremely vibrant and such a delicious combination of taste and aroma. The ribs are tender falling off the bone and a nice balance of fat and lean meat to make it such a flavorful dish to eat.
Another dish we got which is another of our favorites is potatoes thats slices really really thin into matchsticks and then stir fried very quickly with dried chili and then tossed with vinegar. It's spicy, sour, and the potatoes have a nice crunch which is so unique to this style of cooking.
We also ordered another 2 dishes which were stir fried long beans and a potato stew that's seasoned with spices. They were alright but the kids really liked the potatoes.
We had all this with rice and it was a really nice dinner with family.
WOW miss this food a lot!
