FOODlog #146: Neopolitan Woodfire Pizza @ Heritage Pizza KL
Some of my friends brought me out for a birthday dinner last Sunday. They took me to this place called Heritage Pizza located in KL that serves Italian food and drinks like Neopolitan pizzas cooked in a woodfire oven, a selection of wine and beer, and also a nice selection of desserts like silky smooth gelato.
There were 7 of us that went and we got 7 pizzas in total. Each pizza is around 8" and sliced into 8 pieces. Each pizza had it's own unique flavor and taste which were all extremely delicious and satisfying.
Here are some of the pizzas we ordered:
- Margherita
Amazing tomato sauce, Fior Di Latte, which is an Italian-style cow's milk cheese made to order, fresh basil leaves. The best margherita pizza I've eaten to date by a mile.
- Funghi
Tomato sauce, Fior Di Latte, mixture of Italian mushrooms. We added buffalo buratta which made the pizza extra delicious. Creamy and rich but at the same time light and fluffy as a cloud. Extremely delicious and satisfying.
- Beef Diavola
Tomato sauce, fior di latte, beef pepperoni, charred chilies. One of my favorite of the night as I love pepperoni pizza and wasn't disappointed one bit.
- Calabrese (pork)
Tomato sauce, fior di latte, nduja - a spicy, spreadable pork sausage, guanciale, broccoli, charred chilies. This was also super delicious. Spicy and definitely would be a favorite amongst Malaysians coz all of us really liked this pizza because of it's spiciness.
- Massimo (pork)
Tomato sauce, fior di latte, nduja, buffalo mozzarella, basil leaves. This one was very similar to the margherita. Still very delicious but if you're like ordering only 2 pizzas, I would recommend that you pick either or.
- Parma (pork)
Tomato sauce, fior di latte, parma ham, rocket leaves, cherry tomatoes. This was definitely one of the top pizzas of the night for me. Super generous with the parma ham. I love rocket on pizza and every ingredient paired beautifully with each other. Highly recommended!
- Cinque Formaggi (sweet & savory)
White pizza, fior di latte, gorgonzola, pecorino, ricotta, secret cheese, nuts, lavender infused honey. This has got to be the highlight of the night and a great "dessert" pizza. Every bite was a flavor bomb and extremely satisfying. Never had anything quite like this in terms of flavor profile and I highly, highly, recommend this pizza.
We also got some gelato for dessert. I tried their basil gelato which was refreshing and yummy. If you don't like basil, there's also their Stracciatella gelato which is milky and silky smooth.
What a delicious dinner it was spent with the best of friends. I really appreciate these guys in my life and would give my life for them any day.
