FOODlog #145: Chicken Rice
Last Sunday after church, me and some friends went for lunch at a newly opened hawker stall eatery nearby. They serve some local Chinese food like fried rice, chicken rice, and a variety of noodle dishes.
Since it's our first time there, we don't know what is good or not so we just ordered whatever we felt like eating. I ordered a plate of steamed chicken rice.
The meal came with the usual items that comes with a chicken rice like the steamed rice cooked with chicken drippings, the portion of the chicken that's neatly cut, and a side of chili sauce for dipping.
Everything was pretty standard tasting. The rice was fragrant and taste delicious which even though it's something basic in a chicken rice meal, some places do mess up the rice like it's too soggy or undercooked or not flavorful enough. This place did it well.
The chicken itself was also well done. The chicken was moist and tender and cooked all the way through. It served with soy sauce poured on top and also garnished with spring onions. The chili sauce was also well balanced with spiciness and sourness which was a good accompanying dipping sauce.
Overall a nice place to have lunch although my friends who ordered other dishes didn't really have rave reviews of the food they ordered.
