FOODlog #135: Nasi Kandar Utara @ LunchBear
Went for lunch at Lunch Bear again. This time with my Mum. My mother's mom (my grandma) recently passed away, so wanted to spend some time with my Mum just to keep her company and give some emotional support. What better way to do so with some good food.
We ordered 4 different dishes to share amongst the both of us and the portions here are generous at a very very fair price.
We ordered their curry fish which came with some ladies fingers and fresh tomatoes. I love curry especially fish curry and the fish curry here at Lunch Bear is top notch. The consistency is spot on, not watery and has just the right amount of spices and level of spiciness. You can drench your rice with their curry and enjoy the flavors thoroughly.
The fish they use is golden pomfret which is one of my favorite fishes to eat. Not many places serve golden pomfret as their fish curry so this makes it a unique curry that's super delicious!
We also got a bowl of 'daging hitam' which is beef that's cooked with spices and dark soy sauce. The beef could be slightly more tender but in terms of flavor, another really superb dish to order here.
They always have the squid eggs on the line-up of dishes so we decided to order it. I really liked it and a highly recommended dish if you like seafood.
The vegetables they were serving were stir fried cabbage and also French beans with egg. We got the stir fried French beans and they were perfect with the curry and rice.
For my rice I got their mixed curries on top of my rice. It was really yummy and flavorful. Anything on their menu I've ordered have been extremely satisfying, so order anything you like and it'll be a good meal.
