FOODlog #133: 8-Course Chinese Lunch
2 weeks ago my last remaining grandma passed away in to eternity. We had her funeral at a nearby parlor and then had the body cremated. haha doesn't sound like a food blog post ----
After the funeral, me and extended family went for lunch at a nearby Chinese restaurant in Cheras called 'Brotherhood'. We managed to get a table at a private room which perfectly fit the amount of people we had which was about 25+ of us.
We had a wonderful time of eating together and had a meal of 8 different dishes.
Here are some of the dishes we had:
1. In-house made Braised Tofu with Broccoli and Enoki Mushrooms
2. Yam Basket
It's a basket made out of yam that's then deep fried and inside it is stir fried pork slices with vegetables and wood ear mushrooms.
3. Stir Fried Mix Vegetables with Mushrooms
4. Wine Chicken Clay Pot
Chicken cooked with ginger and boiled in a clay pot with Chinese rice wine. The broth was so flavorful and sweet from the wine that it was cooked in.
5. Tripe cooked in clay pot
6. Braised Beef Stew in Clap Pot
The beef was so tender and the gravy rich and flavorful. A very unique dish that isn't found usually on Chinese restaurant menus.
7. Steamed Tilapia with Soy Sauce
The fish was so fresh and cooked expertly where the flesh was flaky, tender, and moist. Super aromatic and tasted excellent.
8. Fried Omelet (Fu Yong Tan)
They also gave a basket of some fried snack that was coated in salted egg powder which was savory and delicious.
We ate all these dishes with rice and drank Chinese tea. A wonderful meal with family celebrating and remembering the life of someone close to our hearts.
