FOODlog #132: A Memorable Egg Fried Rice & Curry Chicken Meal
At my grandma's wake service we had some food for the family, relatives, friends, and guests to have for dinner. We had some food catered to the venue and had local pastries and finger food, some fried rice, fried mihun, curry chicken, stir fried mix vegetables and mushrooms, and stir fried tofu. It seems like a lot of food but knowing my grandma, she would've wanted to have people well fed whenever it was a gathering sort of occasion.
There were leftovers so we packed back some food and I heated them up for lunch one of the following days. I heated up the fried rice in a pan with some chili oil, and then I added an extra fried egg into the fried rice.
I also heated up the chicken in a pan and then had it with the fried rice. The chicken was really tender and the curry was flavorful and delicious. The fried rice wasn't too flavorful and was quite plain but the curry chicken was really good and made the rice taste really nice too.
It was a lovely occasion to bid farewell to my departed grandma and with all the respect and solemn atmosphere was a feel of celebration as well. A celebration and remembrance of her life here on earth - of all the sacrifices she has laying down her life for her family and her generosity and kindness that she displayed throughout her 83 years of life. It was in some way - a joyous occasion.
