FOODlog #127: Vietnamese Beef Pho
Celebrated my wife's birthday last week with family. My Dad treated us for lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant called 'Super Saigon' located at a mall nearby where we live.
Most of us had their signature Beef Pho which is a rice noodle dish with a beef broth and cuts of beef like the brisket and tripe. The broth was rich and flavorful yet clean and refreshing at the same time. You'll also get a refillable plate of beansprouts and Thai basil. I was really nice and I did like it although I think the Kuala Lumpur beef noodles are better 😄
My dad and mum ordered their Stir Fried Kuey Teow with Beef Slices. The portion was generous and they enjoyed it as well.
My kids shared a plate of fried rice with a deep fried chicken cutlet. I tried a piece of the chicken and it was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The fried rice was also flavorful and delicious.
We also ordered the Vietnamese Rice Paper Spring Rolls which came with a peanut fish sauce for dipping. I'm not a fan of these rice paper spring rolls but this was quite delicious with generous portion of prawn, chicken and filles with rice vermicelli. A very pretty and nicely presented dish.
Since it was also 'Merdeka' Day, they were offering a 65c cup of coffee with any purchase of a main meal and an option of either iced or hot. They also had an offer of a fruit punch bowl for any bill above RM65 which ours exceeded. We got a huge fruit punch bowl and we're not short of drinks.
A satisfying meal with family and friendly staff as well.
