What are the things to consider when buying a new cellphone?
*Purpose*
Why do you need to buy a new cellphone, for gaming, business, or personal use? Here is the list of the type of user of cellphone;
Basic user. They are the one who uses their phone for call and text only.
Gamer. As the word implies, they use their phone for online games like ML, LOL, and many more.
Multimedia user. These are users who love to take pictures using their phone and post it on their social media.
Status symbol. These users are very much willing to spend a huge amount of money on the new phones release in the market.
Business operation user. Users who use their phone for their job. Usually to check emails and for their online meeting task.
Today, many cellphone brands in the market can give all the needs of the different kinds of users, of course, with the help of technology. Know the purpose of why you're buying a new phone to maximize your money's worth.
*Specification*
Not all are tech-savvy but we should at least know something with regards to specs or specifications. For us to know if the phone we are using is suitable for daily use.
These are the specs that are very important when buying phones;
1.Operating system-systems used to operate for phones, tablets, smartphone, etc. There are 2 kinds of operations system today, the IOS and Android.
IOS- operating system used by Apple devices like iPhone and Ipad.
Android-operating system from Google and used by famous brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Huawei, and the likes.
2.RAM and ROM- memory capacity of the device. But how are they different from each other?
RAM-stands for Random Access Memory. It is the type of storage that your device used to hold data while multitasking. It is responsible for why our device can run multiple apps.
ROM-stands for Read Only Memory. It is the type of storage that our device used to save data like music, photos, apps, etc.
For me, the minimum requirement for RAM/ROM is 3GB/32GB. Most apps consume large space, ranging from 10mb up to 2GB(for gaming app). It is better to have a large ROM to save more data, photos, music, and to avoid lagging when playing or using apps. More RAM and ROM means more capability to run multiple apps with less lag.
*Connectivity*
Your phone must be capable to connect to the internet for you to do your online task, a job that requires an internet connection. Here in the Philippines, 3G/4G is the common data connection, while 5G is only available to a limited place, as of now. Why is it important? If your phone is for online purposes, you need to know what network is supported in your location, for you to do your task which requires an internet connection. For the basic user, GPRS/EDGE connection is enough for calls and text. Again, network connectivity may vary in the location and the number of users in one place. More users mean slow internet connection because you are sharing in one internet connection.
4.Storage- like ROM, it is important for saving data in your device, it can be apps, music, photos, etc. There are 2 kinds of storage, built-in storage, and expandable storage. Here is the difference;
Built-in storage- storage or.memory in our phone itself.
Expandable storage-memory that can be added together with built-in memory. Our devices have a dedicated slot for that memory. SD card is the common expandable storage. Having expandable storage enables you to transfer data from your built-in storage to your expandable storage.
If you want to save more data on your cellphone, go for the phone that has large storage. 32GB is minimum storage to save a decent amount of files. If you have a big budget, go for 256GB or 512GB.
*Budget*
Buy according to your means. Don't expect too much from a phone if you have bought it for a cheaper price. Great specs come with expensive price tags. Although, there are brands that offer great specs at a reasonable price like Xiaomi and Realme.
Here's a tip;
Save money for your desired phone.
Go for brands that offer great specs at a reasonable price.
Go for functionality and durability.
Stick to your budget.
*Buying Options*
Through store/kiosk- this is a good option because you can check the phone for any defects. You'll have the chance to check other models that is on display and try it for yourself.
Online shop- convenient way specially now, it has pandemic, and mostly you can avail discount. The only disadvantage is the phone can have defects.
Whatever phone you like, the decision is still yours.
