How to make sure your donation to Ukraine gets to the right place!
Ukraine has received hundreds of millions of dollars in donations from around the world after the country was invaded by Vladimir Putin's army. Many individuals offered funds. Unfortunately, some of the money ended up in the hands of crooks who exploited this tragedy.
Fortunately, there are ways in which people can make sure that their money reaches the NGOs operating in Ukraine or the accounts of the Kyiv executive.
One of the surest ways people can donate is the United Nations World Food Program's Share the Meal application, part of the UN. You can make money directly through the site or by downloading dedicated apps for Android and iOS. Be sure to install them through the official website or from the Google Play and App Store online stores. Through Share the Meal you contribute to the food provided to refugees.
Not all campaigns launched for Ukraine are what they seem
Avoid crowdfunding campaigns launched on platforms such as GoFundMe by dubious people or entities as much as possible. However, if you want to use this method, it's a good idea to contribute to the campaign of someone you know and trust.
Don't be impressed by the personal tragedies of alleged Ukrainian refugees discovered on the Internet. Some crooks, disguised as victims, claim, for example, that they suffer from cancer or other serious illness and urgently need treatment.
Not donations for social media campaigns by people who give the impression that they are well-intentioned, nor on the street for individuals who claim to raise money for Ukraine, even if they show you some documents that seem to support the cause.
Also, avoid donation devices that appear in public places or shopping malls. They can be placed there by criminals who want to steal your money and clone your cards. Also, stay away from wallets in stores that seem to raise funds for Ukraine.
