There are a lot of stories that give us lessons and inspiration. Often times we love those unique and thrilling stories that will make our heart beat fast. There are several fictional stories about this kind of stuff, but I want to share with you the story of this young man who bravely defeated a giant-and why his story is more than that.

David and Goliath

Who wouldn't know this story? It is one of the most famous story in the Bible. David is a young man who plays harp. He helped King Saul whenever he is struggling (because King Saul didn't obey God that time) through playing his harp. The war between Israel and Philistines is happening that time and the giant named Goliath, asked the Israelites who will come and fight against him. David is so young and don't know how to fight but he defeated this Goliat by using stone. His stone is small but his God is big, that's why he won.

After that, David became a strong soldier because God saw goodness on him. He defeated a lot of enemies and always come back as a victor. This leads to King Saul despising him, as people says (or sing) that David kill a lot of enemy more than the King.

Forgivable David

When King Saul disobeyed God, he became weak because God is not with him anymore while David gets more stronger as God already chose him to be the next King. As David continuously succeeds, the eagerness of King Saul to kill him grows more. He haunted him and follow where David goes and always try to end his good soldier's life.

When David had chances to avenge and kill King Saul, he didn't do it nor ask someone to commit such action. It's because he knows that God appointed King Saul, what rights does he have to kill him (he thought). He forgave him despite King Saul made his life difficult as he have to hide and runaway.

Another is, when Shimei mocked him and told him a lot of offensive words and phrases. He didn't kill him and said to his servants that the Lord allowed him to be mocked that way, and he trust God for whatever purpose it serves.

Obedient David

He always ask the Lord what to do. Before he went on the battlefield, he will first ask God. He dont act according to his own plans and what he think is right, but rather ask God and wait his answers. When he received what the Lord wants him to do, he will always obey no matter what. Also, when he always come home as a victor, he never give the praises to himself but always to the Lord.

A good Friendship

Going back when King Saul is always looking for David so he can kill him, Jonathan, his son, helped and saved David from him. Imagine how good of a friendship they have. David trust Jonathan despite the fact that he can be betrayed by him since he is the son of the person who's trying to kill him. Jonathan, on the other hand, is ready to disobey his father to save his friend and his love for David is big enough that he knows that his dad's plan is not right at all.

He is not perfect. He committed sin against God when he get Bathsheba and had relationship with her even though she is already married with Urias (the great soldier who was killed through his own plan). However, he repented for this grave sin and plead God. Then, God forgave him and his son with Bathsheba ruled Israel and became the wisest man who ever lived. No one surpassed his intelligence and no man live before him who is as intelligent as he is. His name is Solomon.
