Da Vinci - farewell to the legendary military commander
Da Vinci wasn't just one of the modern commanders, he was the "God of war" as some of my friends who served under his command described him.
Da Vinci (Dmytro Kotsiubailo - real name) had been on the front since the beginning of the russian-Ukrainian war. He became a soldier, a warrior when he was 18 years old or even earlier.
In 2014, he was injured by a tank shell in the settlement of Pisky in Donetsk Oblast. After three months of rehabilitation, he returned to the front, where he continued to fight for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Da Vinci led a separate mechanized battalion called The Da Vinci Wolves, which was a part of the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigade. On 30 November 2021 by the decree of the president of Ukraine, Kotsiubailo was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
I didn't know him personally, but for long time ago my friend gathered a small group of entrepreneurs who donated each month some funds to the "Right sector" battalion (as back then it was a volunteer battalion and there was a constant need for finances). My friend invited me to their base (before full-scale russian attack) and I was planning to go but this didn't happen and I didn't have a chance to meet the legendary commander. But the only thing I could contribute then was some money which I constantly did every month and only recently had to make a pause, but plan to restore this activity in the future... I remember one crypto-meetup at the end of 2021 when the idea of full-scale war was in the air, I told about these incentives to crypto-enthusiasts, who showed their interest in words, but then nobody contributed. For me, it was obvious that it's better to support great professionals and great patriots, like Da Vinci. The was all his life and he sacrificed his life for Ukraine...
Today, 10 March 2023, there were many people of Maidan to say farewell. The farewell ceremony has been attended by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, Head of Ukrainian Defence Intelligence, and also international guest - Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Finland, who is on a visit to Kyiv.
The eternal glory to Da Vinci!
