An Open Letter to BCH Community

Dear BCH Community,

I am writing you personally to share with you an important development crucial to the mass adoption of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) but this has been overshadowed by the launching of the SmartBCH Project. I believe that there are multiple routes to mass adoption of BCH and that BCH could take all these paths with equal likelihood of success.

By now, you all must have heard the argument that a cheap, secure, fast, scalable, peer-to-peer payment system is key to the global adoption of BCH. This is the purpose BCH was created and it remains a valid and relevant argument. And kudos to all community members who are working hard to make this happen. Let's call this the Mercantile's Route.

However, there are also amongst us, I included, who want a trustless and decentralized financial experience like what is all happening now in Ethereum, Cardano, Solana, and other protocols competing in DEFI space. The Defi phenomenon also brought in massive attention and capital among financial institutions and retail investors in the crypto space. The SmartBCH developers and supporters are keenly aware of the power of smart contracts in bringing in more users of BCH via Defi. This is the DEFI Route.

The third route, which many of us are engaged in, is the social media route through noise.cash and read.cash has been a huge success for BCH community. As I write this article, the combined number of users of these two platforms is over 300,000 users. This growing user base of these platforms is a testament to the BCH adoption among bloggers and social media users.

The last route, though there might be other roads that I have failed to mention, is Play2Earn Blockchain Games. The popularity of Play2Earn Blockchain games in onboarding new users to crypto cannot be denied. In my country where Axie Infinity has a massive following, the game is attracting thousands of people who have never heard about crypto in their lives. This great interest has spill-over effect to other play2earn games and it is these blockchain games that are teaching new players how to set up wallets, save seed phrase or keys, buy or swap fiat for other tokens which will be used for gas fees, and even HODL these token as speculative assets. Bitcoin Cash can also succeed in this arena but the community needs to support this blockchain game developed by BCH supporters for BCH community. I am referring to the game Enter The Sphere developed by @Joey_B_Wong and his team of artists and developers.

What is Enter The Sphere?

The Enter The Sphere, is the first blockchain game which I know that uses BCH as in-game currency. The packs can be bought using BCH but the is also an option to use Visa and Master cards. The packs give the user 5 cards per which can be used in the game. These cards are NFTs built using BCH's Simple Ledger Protocol (SLP) which can be sold in the game's marketplace or secondary market like the jungle. When you trade these cards, BCH is needed. Here are sample cards that I receive from my first pack.

Value of the game to the Bitcoin Cash Network

It stimulates an integrated online economy

Bitcoin cash is already doing good on many parts of the work on face-to-face commercial transactions. Even better if an integrated online economy uses Bitcoin Cash as its main digital currency. In an integrated online economy, I envision that people are compensated for their work with Bitcoin Cash and they can use Bitcoin Cash to purchase digital goods and services.

With Enter the Sphere, the game can reward the time spent by players with Bitcoin Cash and other in-game assets and the players can exchange these Non-Fungible Tokens for more BCH, thus, creating a cyclical and sustainable demand for BCH.

Brings to the network other potential users who are not the target of the other 3 adoption routes

Different strokes for different folks. Bitcoin cash already has good projects for merchants and consumers, investors and traders, and social media users. But none for gamers. The gamers are a vibrant, contagious, and influential group of people. People look up to them, that is the reason why businesses get them to endorse their products. Aside from that, there are millions of gamers out there wanting to monetize the time they have spent in the game. Shouldn't Bitcoin Cash also carve its own niche in this arena?

Besides, I have seen on Youtube.com several blockchain projects that are using Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Satoshi's Vision as in-game currency. I think BCH should not be left behind in this endeavor.

Increases BCH metrics like transaction volume, wallets, users, social media presence

With new users and other avenues to spend in the BCH, I expect that important performance metrics will increase like transaction volume, number of active wallets, and number of users. Being social animals, I expect these gamers to create contents and post these in the various social media and this will further bolster the metrics of BCH. Gamers can even be incentivized to do this.

Synergizes well with other BCH projects like Juungle.net, SmartBCH, Noise.cash, and Read.cash

Synergy is when the total is greater than the sum of the individual parts. These BCH projects are already really, really good individually. The added value of this game is the synergy. With the NFTs acquired from the game, you can sell them in the Juungle.net which is an NFT Market. As mentioned gamers can also create game-related contents and post them in Noise.cash and Read.cash. Maybe in the future, when the game becomes popular, the developers may create a governance token for the game which can be traded in SmartBCH.

Supporting the Project

This is the second Flipstarter campaign of the game. The first Flipstarter was met with resounding success generating 101 BCH from investors. The prototype model of the game is the product of this first Flipstarter.

The current Flipstarter aims to generate 93 BCH to fund the continued development of the game, to move it from the alpha phase to an actual working game we can all enjoy.

The BCH community is very diverse. I believe each one of us can contribute something to the success of the game. Now is the right time to reciprocate to the BCH network all the good things we have received from BCH.

Let us counter the false narrative that noise cash and read cash users are a bunch of leechers who are only for the money. We can show the BCH detractors that we can combine our collective strengths when it matters. This is our opportunity to walk our talk and demonstrate our love and support for the BCH ecosystem. To help everyone, I came up with a list of how to support this project.

Flipstarter Campaign

Definitely, the project needs financial support because the people working on it need to put food on their table also. Game Artist, programmers and blockchain developers are expensive and the current team is already being paid below-market rates.

The Flipstarter website accepts any amount of BCH. So if you have extra earnings from blogging in Read.cash and Noise.cash, please consider supporting the project via the Flipstarter.

Buy the Game Packs or play the game for free

The packs come in relatively cheap. It costs $2 per pack. Noise cash and read cash users can earn that amount in a short time. Based on the Flipstarter 2 proposed budget, the developers need $61,000. This amount can be supplied by 30,500 Noise.cash and Read.cash users if they only purchase at least 1 pack. Even if we assume that only half of Noise.cash users can afford to buy 1 pack, that still 115,000 users, 80,000 more than the required number of buyers.

Since the cards and packs are NFT, it is beneficial for the game and gamers. If the game becomes successful in the future, the value of those cards would likewise increase. To show my support, I have also purchased 13 packs worth $26.

Talk about the game on social media

Make a post about the game, write an article about the game Mechanics, draw a character from the game and share with friends. I have noticed from playing other blockchain games that word-of-mouth marketing is an effective strategy. I have seen this worked in Axie, Splinterlands, and Mydefipet. As they say in marketing, a business without a sign is a sign of no business.
