Intellectual property on the blockchain !

All people in the world have an intellectual property. Some of them know about that and others don't even think about that. Even personal data is an intellectual property. In my opinion, even habits and traditions. For example, when someone goes to another country and record anything. He/she should have the permission to do so. Or at least if those people don't know about that, he/she should offer a reward for taking any information. The intellectual property is not free, and it should be respected !

How often we see journalists showing us a place where people are barely surviving. They record everything about them, but we don't know if they paid them for that or not. Showing us that they are helping them can be discussed. If they are helping them somehow, it's good, but they should also pay them for their intellectual property. They have souls, they have faces and bodies, they have traditions and even a language, their situation is an information, and it should be rewarded. We even have now a term that's called philanthropist. Usually very wealthy people call themselves like that. Maybe they truly donate a lot of money to very poor people. But, they shouldn't use that to just brag. They should know that those people should be also paid for their intellectual property. Don't always think that a philanthropist is an angel.

The same thing about the blockchain. Some people think that by up voting others, they provided a service. But in fact it's a win-win situation. The upvoters get their curation rewards and the author get his/her part as well. Plus, there is an intellectual property of the author. Energy and time spent, and it should be paid. Even by setting certain rules, it doesn't mean that the intellectual property is sold. The content still belongs to the author !

I understand that we are creating content on a decentralized platform. But, it doesn't mean that we don't have any rights here. Our content should be protected. We may even need a group to help us with that. Let's take the example of the fork. We had the steem fork, and it went to hive. All our content that was created in steem exist now in hive. It's good that we have a new community now that's completely independent. But it doesn't mean that we gifted that content for free. We invested a long time and energy to create it, even if it's not bringing us now rewards. It's helping the blockchain just because it exists. Because when people will look for a topic, they may find it here and in the end the blockchain itself will be promoted and all those who are earning here will have a benefit from that.

In the regular websites we have the principle of creative commons license. It's a public copyright licenses that support the free distribution of the content. There is even a non-profit organization devoted to give the access to the content to be shared. And anyone can make his/her content free to use. But it doesn't mean that his/her opinion can't be changed, and it doesn't mean that some content of that author can't be sold after. I think anyone has the right to monetize the content produced.

So, you have to know that you are the only owner of your content. If it's original, you have the right to write, say, create or record anything you want if you have the permission for that, and you don't cause the damage or don't violate the rights of anyone. In return, you have the right to do with your content anything you want. In case you can't delete it, you can edit it. I think, even if you are already rewarded for it, it's ok to edit it. Sometimes you change your mind, or you find that you was wrong, and you don't want to risk your reputation by leaving everything the same.

Be proud of what you create and have a strong self-esteem !

No one else is the owner of your content ! Only you !
