War and man: an indivisible union

War is never fair, it is never correct, it is never justifiable and justified. An ideal world without clashes, anger, power is just a dream, one of those that one has in the drawer but who knows very well that they cannot be realized. Harmonic life is not of the terrestrial world, on the other hand we have seen it since prehistoric times when men with clubs fought for food, for women, for control of the territory. All of this happens to some extent in nature, albeit out of necessity and not out of pride or desire for power.

I doubt a lion will attack larger territories than those delineated out of thirst for power. Animals know well that the greater the territory to control, the more difficult and tiring it will be to fight against other beings of its species. Why is man different? A question whose answer would require books on history, psychology and sociology to draw some conclusions.

Free will and intelligence was given to us as a gift or perhaps as an experiment, in order to understand, by some entity, what the result was. Well we can certainly argue that the intellect has pushed us to be a society evolved in technology, taking huge steps forward in the last few centuries. Alas, the instinct to fight has never been instinct but has simply evolved with technology: from clubs to swords, from tanks to atomic bombs.

In an imaginary harmonic world, men would exchange aids to maintain an increasingly comfortable lifestyle as the well-being of others means well-being for ourselves. But the idea of ​​deceiving others to make more profit ourselves, has not yet taught anything in these millennia of history and millions of victims.

Sometimes I think that war is a tool created to control the world rate of growth, where nature fails with its weapons. It is really difficult to understand how useless all this is, yet there is no possibility to give up. Vain are the appeals and stories of the victims of these horrors and what really irritates me is that there are people of the human species who are pleased with the massacres, violence and killings.

I play down, yet I shouldn't, with a phrase from a film by Sylvester Stallone, Rocky 4, at the end of the meeting with the opposing athlete, Rocky says: If I can change and you can change, everybody can change.

La guerra non è mai giusta, non è mai corretta, non è mai giustificabile e giustificata. Un ideale mondo senza scontri, rabbia, potere è solo un sogno, di quelli che uno ha nel cassetto ma che sa benissimo che non si potranno realizzare. La vita armonica non è del mondo terrestre, d'altronde lo abbiam visto sin dalle preistoria in cui omini con la clava si guerreggiavano per cibo, per donne, per il controllo del territorio. Tutto ciò succede un pò anche in natura, seppur per necessità e non per orgoglio o desiderio di potere.

Dubito che un leone attacchi territori più ampi rispetto a quelli delineati per sete di potere. Gli animali sanno bene che maggiore è il territorio da controllare e più difficile e stancante sarà lottare contro gli altri esseri della sue specie. Perchè l'uomo è diverso? Una domanda la cui risposta richiederebbe libri di storia, psicologia e sociologia per trarre alcune conclusioni.

Il libero arbitrio e l'intelligenza ci è stato concesso come dono o forse come esperimento, al fine di comprendere, da parte di qualche entità, quale fosse il risultato. Beh possiamo di certo sostenere che l'intelletto ci ha spinti ad essere una società evoluta nella tecnologia, compiendo enormi passi in avanti negli ultimi secoli. Ahimè, l'istinto di guerreggiare non si è mai istinto ma è semplicemente evoluto con la tecnologia: dalla clava alle spade, dai carri armati alle bombe atomiche.

In un mondo armonico immaginario, gli uomini si scambierebbero aiuti per mantenere uno stile di vita sempre più confortevole poichè il benessere degli altri significa benessere per noi stessi. Ma l'idea di raggirare gli altri per trarne noi stessi maggiori profitti, non ha ancora insegnato nulla in questi millenni di storia e milioni di vittime.

A volte penso che la guerra sia uno strumento creato per controllare il tasso di crescita mondiale, laddove la natura non riesce con le sue armi. Difficile davvero comprendere quanto sia inutile tutto ciò, eppure non vi è possibilità di desistere. Vani sono gli appelli e le storie delle vittime di questi orrori e ciò che davvero mi irrita è che esistono soggetti della specie umana che si compiacciono delle stragi, delle violenze e delle uccisioni.

Sdrammatizzo, eppure non dovrei, con una frase di un film si Sylvester Stallone, Rocky 4, al termine dell'incontro con l'atleta avversario, Rocky afferma: Se io posso cambiare, e voi potete cambiare, tutto il mondo può cambiare!
