Today, I will be talking about something which is far more important than anything else you might be dealing with and it is called mental health.

What is it and why it is so important? I will be explaining it to you very simply. I don't want to bore you with terminologies of psychology and science but still want you to get an idea about it.

Mental health is someone's social, psychological, and emotional well being. If a person is not able to control his or her emotions in certain situations or a daily social interaction that needed to be taken care of failed this can be a clue that shows the person might be having some issues. It will cause daily interruptions with your social, personal, and work life. It is the main core, if an individual is not functioning well where is the point of making money or how he or she could take care of others. It will make things worst and hard to solve.

It could be me, you, or anyone around us. We now treat this kind of case with a higher success rate than ever. That is why no one needs to be ashamed. There are many ways that we can help. But the key here is to identify the early signs of any mental problem someone may be having. Our help will be more effective if the person who is experiencing such issues helped at the earliest. If it is you, seek some help from professionals. Don't be afraid because they will do their best. But if this is not taken care of and the person now developed severe malfunctioning (not be able to cope and function as needed) it will be harder for him or her and everyone around. I am not saying impossible.

So let us take a look at early signs for mental health problems(illnesses);

  • Eating or sleeping too much or too little

  • Pulling away from people and usual activities

  • Having low or no energy

  • Feeling numb or like nothing matters

  • Having unexplained aches and pains

  • Feeling helpless or hopeless

  • Smoking, drinking or using drugs more than usual

  • Feeling unusually confused, forgetful, on edge, angry, upset, worried, or scared

  • Yelling or fighting with family and friends

  • Experiencing severe mood swings that cause problems in relationships

  • Having persistent thoughts and memories you can't get out of your head

  • Hearing voices or believing things that are not true

  • Thinking of harming yourself or others

  • Inability to perform daily tasks like taking care of your kids or getting to work or school

Please note that if you experience one or a few of these, won't make you someone with a mental health problem but if you see that some of them happen to become more frequent and continuous please take the necessary action.

If your loved one shows signs of mental illness, have an open and honest discussion with him or her about your concerns. You may not be able to force someone to get professional care, but you can offer encouragement and support. You can also help your loved one find a qualified mental health professional and make an appointment. You may even be able to go along to the appointment.

If your loved one has done self-harm or is considering doing so, take the person to the hospital or call for emergency help.

Let us be there for someone who may need us for a talk. Let us listen to them and be part of their happiness and sadness. Let us grow together with the differences we have. Thank you for reading up to here and I hope you enjoyed it. Have a great day ahead.

That's a battle against yourself, is harsh and not pretty at all, we always have to keep our thoughts in check. Nice article, and thanks for spreading awareness.

I had some mental issues before. I always wanted to commit suicide. I even planned how to end my life at the age of 8 or 9, I believe. It wasn't my parents' fault by the way. As a person with a disability, I felt like don't belong in this world. So committing suicide was always on my mind. Lol. No worries, I'm all good now. I realized no one can help you but yourself and God, of course.

By the way, thanks for sharing. People also need to know that when someone they know is suffering from any of these, instead of being mean to them, they should be there to make that person realized that he/she is not alone. Just a thought, though.

That's so beautiful to hear from you. I mean how you overcome and stand, even thought after all you experienced. Nobody is alone but God. Being alone and 1 is only for him. That's why we are here learning how to interact and love each other. Thanks for your great words they can be an inspiration for someone who is going thru some serious issues. God bless and see ya soon again :)
