It is true that when we were in high school, it was a problem if we were late to the subject that just caused us a headache, there were concepts already explained or ideas already said, we felt lost, we did not understand anything. This is how it can happen with the cryptographic world, people have been developing a career for years and maybe you, who read me, are not fully aware of it and concepts are slipping through your fingers.

In this opportunity I want to clarify these two concepts, or cryptographic tools of vital importance if we want to develop a cryptographic career. Regardless of the reason why you access cryptocurrencies, you must know what they are. Let's start with the concept of a wallet, which is actually not very different from what we already know as a wallet.

Unlike a traditional wallet, a wallet in the crypto world is a tool that allows me to have stored digital assets, there are two types, cold wallets, are devices (hardware) that store your assets outside the network, making them more secure and reliable. And there are hot wallets that store your cryptos online, making them more prone to attacks. But they are generally very secure, the only thing that could be vulnerable is how the user handles their seed phrase, or security phrase, which is what allows you to access your assets.

Now, there is not much we can say about wallets, unlike the second concept, what is an Exchange? Briefly we can say that it is a platform for exchanges, that is, to be able to exchange one crypto for another, or even transform your cryptos into fiat currency or vice versa. Although in exchanges you can store your assets, it is not really a wallet. Nowadays, many exchanges are centralized platforms and that makes your assets and information not 100% secure. I do not recommend at all to store assets in exchanges, what I can say, is that through these exchange platforms they only handle the money you want to transact with.

There are wallets and exchanges more secure than others, but that is a matter for another time, I just wanted to make clear the differences. Soon I will be giving my opinion about some exchanges and wallets.

Es cierto que cuando estábamos en secundaria, era un problema si llegábamos tarde a la asignatura que justo nos causaba dolor de cabeza, habían conceptos ya explicados o ideas ya dichas, nos sentíamos perdidos, no entendíamos nada. Así nos puede pasar con el mundo criptográfico, ya hace años que personas han desarrollado una carrera y quizá tú que me lees, no estés del todo enterado y se te escapen conceptos de las manos. 

En esta oportunidad quiero esclarecer estos dos conceptos, o herramientas criptográficas de vital importancia si queremos desarrollar una carrera criptográfica. Independientemente del motivo por el cual accedas a las criptomonedas, debes conocer que son. Comencemos con el concepto de billetera, que en realidad no tiene mucha diferencias a lo que ya conocemos por billetera. 

A diferencia de una billetera tradicional, una billetera en el mundo cripto es una herramienta que me permite tener almacenado los activos digitales, hay dos tipos, billeteras frías, son dispositivos (hardware) que almacenan tus activos fuera de la red, haciéndolos más seguros y confiables. Y están las billeteras calientes que almacenan tus criptos de manera online, haciéndoles más propensas a ataques. Pero por lo general son muy seguras, lo único que podría ser vulnerable es el cómo el usuario maneje su frase semilla, o frase de seguridad,  que es aquello que te permite tener acceso a tus activos. 

Ahora bien, no es mucho lo que podamos decir de las billeteras, a diferencias del segundo concepto ¿Que es un Exchange? De manera breve se puede decir que  es una plataforma para intercambios, es decir, poder cambiar una cripto por otra, o incluso transformar tus criptos en moneda fiat o visceversa. Aunque en las exchanges puedes almacenar tus activos, no es propiamente una wallets. Hoy por hoy, muchas exchanges son plataformas centralizadas y eso hace que tus activos y tu información no estén 100% seguros. No recomiendo en lo absoluto guardar activos en exchanges, lo que puedo decir, es que a través de estas plataformas de intercambio solo manejan el dinero con el que deseas transaccionar. 

Hay wallets y exchanges más seguras que otras, pero eso es asunto de otro momento, solamente quería dejar en claro las diferencias. Pronto estaré dando mi opinión sobre algunas exchanges  y wallets.
