It's not a message one likes to see.

btcfork's account has been suspended indefinitely on a claim of 'vote manipulation'.

There is an appeal process, and if the admin reconsider, we may be back at some point.

Having been temporarily suspended from Twitter before by an indiscriminate algorithm, btcfork is no stranger to the dangers of centralized social media platforms.

That's why btcfork has a presence on various platforms, including the highly censorship-resistant Bitcoin Cash blockchain (which serves as a decentralized message board using the Memo protocol, accessible via such sites as https://memo.cash).

Implications

A. For now, the following channels should be used to contact btcfork, in order of preference:

  1. Twitter DMs (only semi-private; Twitter employees and spooks will likely be able to read our messages. These sets are apparently not disjoint anyway ;).

  2. btcfork's public inbox on Memo. You'll need a Memo login or Member app account to post onto the blockchain.
Messages posted there are public and permanent, and what you post is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

  3. Reply to one of our posts or comments here on this site (read.cash). Another public method, and probably considered as permanent as anything else written into a cloud :-)

B. Outreach and development related campaigns like #MYTHBUSTER (and the occasional fundraising #CGTOW) will continue via sites such as this one and Memo-based platforms.

C. To reach Reddit users, until we have final word on our appeal, we now depend on the Bitcoin Cash community's help to spread our message on that platform.

D. btcfork's contact public key fingerprint is 32EE 4DE8 1CF3 0C1C 70A7 A4CA 035A 045A 24E9 1727. Will be publishing the pubkey shortly for anyone who wants to get in touch privately with btcfork.

"The future of social media belongs to censorship-resistant platforms"

Posts the person one day after he muted me on memo.cash for posting a christmas meme in his topic to greet him on christmas.

Karma is a bitch :D

Muting someone on Memo isn't censoring them. It's just not wanting to see their posts. It affects no-one else.

However, I'll say this for the record - I've always found your Memo content generally to be spammy, and that's just my opinion.

You weren't a subscriber of the 'Mythbusting' topic, you didn't participate in the whole effort, you came out of nowhere to post something that wasn't very recognizable as a Christmas greeting but rather ambiguous, and I interpreted it as outside spam.

Now you're on here complaining. I'm glad I muted you.

To be totally honest, i always found your mythbusting topic quite of spammy and nonsensical. So i think, after all, its fine if we just ignore each other in the future :D

Can you please fact check us?

u/btcfork is the organization that along with ftrader as its (founding?) member stood at the beginning of the Bitcoin Cash fork.

btcfork is also responsible for the #MYTHBUSTING campaign and is probably one of the most active upvoters on read.cash, having supported tons of authors.

ILoveBitcoinCash:

I might have the wrong information, but I think it was u/singularity87 who basically founded the btcfork movement, and ftrader joined some time later?

Both singularity87 and ftrader were involved early on, but this thread basically confirms that ftrader was developing a fork when he noticed that singularity had created a Reddit thread about forking (may have been the creation of the btcfork subreddit, not sure)

Thanks!

Also, a minor question: you just tipped me $2, but my wallet displays $1.82. Are there different fiat conversion feeds in play?

Well, 10% goes to affiliates+us (even from our own upvotes), so it's $1.80, then there's minute differences in current exchange rate (updates every minute or so)

ah, of course, that explains it. I'm dumb.

Though... to be clear - we're "not censorship-resistant", but we're definitely not going to be silencing polite people, not obviously violating the law (think child porn of something like that), even if their opinions are wildly different from ours.
