18 days before Christmas.
We are now down to 18 days, and I'm sure most of you are already excited. Christmas is, aside from the fact that is the birth of Jesus Christ, about family. For children, Christmas is about food and presents. Lots of presents from their godparents, relatives, and of course, from their parents.
In my days, when I was still just a little kiddo, I seldom received anything. Although there was one particular godparent who never failed to give me anything, I don't recall anyone giving me a toy. They would either gave me money or fabric so mom could make a dress out of it. So my childhood Christmas wasn't that interesting coz as kids, we all prefer toys more than anything else.
Now, that I'm all grown up, it's time for me to do the favor. Not for my godparents, of course, but for my nieces and nephews. I have 5 nieces and 3 nephews, only 2 are teenagers. And since most of them are still kiddos, I prefer giving them what they like as long as it's budget-friendly. Luckily, they don't demand more than 300 pesos worth of anything, or else, I won't have anything for others.
Last year, the kids weren't so happy because I bought them blouses rather than toys. But for this year, they asked me if they could have pokemon instead. They want a pokemon ball with a pokemon inside. When I checked online, it was pretty affordable, so I bought 5 for my 2 nephews and 3 nieces. Aside from that, I will also include a little amount of money coz they love saving coins in their piggy bank. For the teenagers, Wil just gives them cash coz I don't want to waste money on something they don't like. As for the baby, our youngest member in the family / my godchild, I might buy him something he can play with. I recently bought him a motorcycle that he could ride on, but he wasn't so interested in it. Might buy him a slide or something else.
I will also buy something for mom. But I don't know what she likes, so might as well just give her cash instead. And, of course, for my four furry babies, they will have more wet dog foods, plus treats and new harnesses and leashes too.
Christmas is about giving. So I always make sure I have something for them. I don't mind not having something for myself as long as I have something for them. Putting a smile on their faces is far more important than mine, but I might also buy something for myself this year. I'm not sure what it is that I like to have. I might go for an Instax camera, or anything cheaper but cute.
So, yeah, that's basically my whole gift plan for my family. I hope my family will be okay with the idea of just cash and not the typical gifts. Luckily, I still have 2 weeks to save more money for them.
What about you? What are your plans? Will you prefer cash or something extra this year? Let me know in the comment section below. 😉

These past few years, we've just been giving cash instead of gifts because they want to choose the things they want to do with the cash now ;-; even i want cash these days
