What is a content writer?
A content writer is the one who produces engaging content for online use. The topics to write about vary depending on your client's demands. In my case, I write a lot of stuff ranging from fashion and toys and gift ideas to travel and cool gadgets, and a few more.
Being a content writer doesn't necessarily mean you have to be in the field for years. Even those without professional experience can still be a content writer as long as you have what it takes to be one. What are these?
You have a passion for writing. This is important because it would be hard to apply for a job that you have no passion for. If you think you're not good enough because English isn't your first language, don't worry because there are online applications that you can use for free that will help you out with your grammar and other important stuff.
Must be efficient in Google research. As a content writer, you don't need to write an entire topic by yourself. Once your client will send you a certain topic, your next step is to research it on Google. The problem is, you'll see tons of similar results, and that can be tough for people who do the job for the first time. The best way to determine which source to use is to find the article that is more relevant to your topic and choose the most recent one, especially when it comes to fashion and gadgets.
Knows the basic techniques in writing. You have the topic from your client, did all the research, and now, you have the source, so what's next? I don't know about some of you here, but in my case, I would copy the entire article (minus the not so relevant topics) and start paraphrasing everything to make it look like a whole new 100% unique article.
To paraphrase, you need to:
Change the words (for example, change the word beautiful to lovely, cute to adorable, etc)
Change the sentence structure
Break a long sentence into a small one
Combine short ones
Expand phrases for clarity
Can proofread your own work. Luckily, there are tons of ready-to-use grammar checker tools you can use online. My favorite of all is Grammarly. This free writing app helps you detect any grammatical errors as well as making your online writing clear and effective.
Knows how to check for plagiarism. In writing, you must make sure that your article is not plagiarized. Even if you've written the article from scratch, there will always be a possibility that your work could match up with something that is already been published online.
Fortunately, there are many free plagiarism tools you can use online. My favorites are Grammarly, Plagiarism Detector, and Search Engine Reports. I use all three of these to ensure that my articles are 100% plagiarize-free.
I highly recommend you to use at least two because some plagiarism checkers aren't as consistent as the others. Meaning, your article may be plagiarized-free in Grammarly but not in other tools like Plagiarism Detector, for instance.

Here are some of the best platforms you can try:
