The first of May is a very important day in Sardinia: in my town, from every village of the island, thousands of people come, dressing their traditional clothes, to celebrate the patron saint. This year has been the 366th year. I'm not religious but I love this day, for a lot of reasons. Above all because I can see hundreds and hundreds of horses and touch a lot of oxen! π in the following posts I will explain more things.

My doctor said I need to eat healthier otherwise he has to give me some. medicine... and so I changed my breakfast introducing oat, that is able to give a very big help to the body. I started to prepare a overnight oatmeal every night before going to bed, so easy: I put 40g of rolled oats in a cup, I add a little of semi-skimmed milk and and then I put the cup on the refrigerator. During the Sant'Efisio day the first part of the loooooong procession is entrusted to oxen-drawn wagons, named. "is traccas" . This is so since the 17th century, before the automotive era, when people from all the part of Sardinia reached Cagliari exactly with the carrots you see in the pictures. About oxen, they are big and strong peaceful animals, you can touch and caress them and they don't move a muscle! Everyone of them has a name and they are used nowadays only forβ¦
Sometimes it happens to find carabinieri ( the national gendarmerie of Italy) riding horses in the parks and it's always a cute feeling to imagine to be for a while in the old times!
