Polaris
Also known as a Polar Star or Pole Star.
It's a Star preferably bright, nearly aligned with the Axis of a rotating astronomical body. Currently, Earth's Pole Stars are Polaris or Ursae Minoris.
A magnitude-2 Star aligned approximately with its northern axis and a pre-eminent star in celestial navigation and Polaris Australis or Sigma Octantis, a much dimmer star.
From around 1700 BC until just after 300 AD.
Kochab or Beta Ursae Minoris and Pherkad or Gamma Ursae Minoris were twin northern Pole Stars though neither was as close to the Pole as Polaris is now.
Designated as a Ursae Minoris commonly the North Star or Pole Star.

It's very close to the North Celestial Pole making it the current Pole Star.

Has a symbolic meaning for the North Star depicts a beacon of inspiration and hope to many for African American, it's as real as it is inspirational and as spiritual as it is celestial.
In the Biblical sense, the Star of Bethlehem or the Christian Star appears in the nativity story of the Gospel of Matthew where the three Wise Kings from the east are inspired by the North Star to travel to Jerusalem.
It's the indication of Freedom for African American.
