I was not able to publish last night due to migraine. As early as 7PM I was already knocked out. I was thinking about forcing myself to draft one but I didn't. My mind was battling with my heart. I was not that active here and on noise.cash yesterday so I better grind today.
So what basically happened yesterday? The weather was a little gloomy when I woke up and I am not in the mood to do anything. My mom and I just watched Princess Switch 3 after we had our lunch then around 4PM we went to a bazaar inside our village.
Most of you may have already been to a bazaar before but have you experience to join a bazaar where you are going to sell whether food or non food? I was in college when I have experienced selling during a Christmas bazaar. I think it was during the 2nd or 3rd weekend of December and it was a 3 day event. I forgot how much we paid for a single booth but we were 4 who divided for the rent. And who are these 3 other people? You have already heard about my friend A who has been my friend since elementary until today. We went to the same school from elementary to college and live just a few minutes away from each other. Then I have a blockmate that lives a little farther from us and let's name him E and I also found out during our 3rd year in college that I have a neighbor that was also our batchmate and let's call her K. She lives a few streets away from me and less than 5 minutes away if by walking. I together with A and K would go carpool with E because he was the one who always brought a car to school. Because the 4 of us lived within the area, I have decided that all 4 of us should join the bazaar and they agreed.
We thought that because the rent was divided into 4, even the items that we will be going to sell will also be like divided amongst us and same goes with the other expenses. As it turns out, K was very well prepared. On the first day of the bazaar, she had a lot of baked goodies and the 3 of us did not have anything to sell. Then K said that since she was the one who baked and provided for all of it, her earnings will be hers alone. The 3 of us got empty handed during the first day of our bazaar. But even if we did not have anything to sell during our first day, we still helped K in selling her products.
Afternoon of that day, the 3 of us left the bazaar to buy some ingredients so that we can sell something for the remaining days. We were happy when we got our first sale however, we were not able to gain back what we have lost during that 3 day event. I do not know if K was able to earn more or just break even but for us 3, we were negative. LOL. I must say that we were not really prepared for it but it was an experience where I was able to learn something about selling in a bazaar and will share some of it with you.
1. Have a free taste to passing customers
This is something that K had done. She sliced her baked goodies into tiny pieces to let the people have a taste of it. Because of it, people will be thrilled to taste each of the products that you are selling. Who would not want a free taste right?
2. Do not focus on selling just 1 item unless you know that your product will be a hit or it is the current trend
There are a lot of hype foods every year from one country to another. Here in the Philippines, I have witnessed some of those hype foods from different brands. From Go Nuts Donuts to Krispy Kreme to JCo Donuts. I do not know who started the hype with milk tea but I have tasted it long before though without the pearls. There are some Chinese and Thai restaurants that serves milk tea but it was the milk tea with bobba pearls that have been a hit to the younger generations. The pandemic had opened its doors to some people to have a business of their own and majority of them put up a milk tea business. Next was a coffee business. Now some people are starting to rave on the egg drop sandwich.
So if you are going to sell a hype item, no need to think of selling other items but it would be better if you can introduce some more items so that you will also be able to double your income.
I remember during our bazaar, we sell chicken and mushroom strudel. It was the only product that we were able to prepare for our 2nd day. There were people who do not eat chicken and/or mushroom. Instead of buying from us, they bought from other people who had a lot more to offer. So during our 3rd day, we sell everything. We sell chocolate pralines, chocolate on sticks, chocolate truffles and even turon. LOL. Because the turon was still hot, it was the first to get sold out. The turon was actually made by my mom so we can eat it as snack while we were manning the booth but we ended up asking for my mom to made some more so we can sell it to the people. There was a person who passed by our booth and asked us where we got the turon and we sold the turon that we have just to make a sale. LOL.
I do not know how long this article would be but I am hoping that you will take note of all the tips and advices that I am going to say for your future bazaar experience.
