What was the best advice that you got from someone?
I joined this community for freelancers two months ago. We have different clients in different industries, have different roles & responsibilities but we work together online via Zoom. Basically, to keep us awake at night, entertained and motivated to work.
Before I joined our nightly Zoom Meeting, they were already sharing about the best advices that someone gave them. When I was asked this question, I couldn't think of anything.
Sometime in my life, someone must have given me an advice which helped mold me to the person I am today. However, I couldn't think of any particular advice from someone that was deeply engraved in my heart.
I kept thinking and thinking. Then, I realized that I have been doing the opposite things that people have been telling me to do.
I grew up from a typical asian household. My parents already knew what they wanted and what they didn't want me to be. Families, friends and people around me have this expectations of me which I cannot keep up with.
When I was asked, what was the best advice that you got from someone?
I shared my side of the story.
I cannot recall any advice given from someone that I followed and turned out great for me.
In the contrary, I have been doing the opposite things. They expected me to fail but I'm okay. I couldn't ask for more today. I believe that whatever you do is okay as long as you are happy, you are good to yourself and to others.
Some short advice I can give to someone to make your life better and easier, based on my experiences:
Do good to others and good things will come back to you
You cannot control how people will think and react. But, you can control your thoughts and how you react.
Mind your business. Check on yourself, mind your own problems before you mind someone elses.
Life is a journey. It's not worth living if it doesn't have challenges.
Stop comparing your hurdles to other people's hurdles. The weight of the problem varies from one person to the other.
Be open to feedback. Learn from bad experiences and disappointments. It is the key to becoming a better person.
Always think of positive thoughts. Negative things will happen but try to get the positive thing from your experience.
Progress is progress. Small progress is still progress.
Appreciate what you have and if you are not happy with where you are right now, do something about it. Work on it. Nothing happens if you just think about it.
Keep living. We all die eventually, might as well live with no regrets.
Hope this helps you. And, if you are not feeling good today, take a rest. If you are down, cheer up, you are not alone. It may be difficult for you now but do your best and it will all be worth it :)
Xx, Pee
I can't say there's one best advice people ever gave me. If it comes to it all those advices are just phrases, rarely personal experiences.
