Family's Puto Cheese

Let me share this other Filipino Recipe that my mother usually cooks in family gatherings which is Puto Cheese. It has been a year since I made this myself.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of flour

  • 3 tsps of baking powder

  • 1/2 cup of white sugar

  • 1 cup of evaporated milk

  • 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract

  • 1 cup of shredded cheese

  • 5 cups water for steaming

Procedure

  1. Put water in steamer. Let it boil.

  2. Strain the flour using a sieve. Then, mix it with baking powder and sugar.

  3. Slowly add the milk to the mixture and make sure to constantly stir it until it becomes smooth.

  4. Pour the vanilla and half of the shredded cheese. Mix well.

  5. Pour the mixture to molds and arrange the molds in the steamer.

  6. Let it steam for aroun 25 minutes. Then, put one shredded cheese on top of each puto. Let it steam for an additional of 5 minutes.

  7. If everything is done, let the puto cheese cool down. Once cool, remove the puto cheese from the mold and serve.

My recipe might be too simple for you but this is delicious :)
