The Birthday Princess
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a princess and her name was Reema. She lives in a castle but she's not a daughter of the king and queen but one of their maidservants. She is the only princess among the 3 siblings. Her parents and brothers loves her so much and they treater her as a real princess. Reema at a very young age understands that they are not rich and her parents needed to work hard for their living and celebrating a birthday was not their priority.
Since Reema is a well-behaved young girl, her mother would bring her to the castle and let her play in the garden. Reema is fond of story telling and would love to pretend as a teacher and her rug doll, which she named Toni, as her listener. Her stories seemed real that her parents would even request for it every night before going to sleep. They are so impressed and amazed how a 4-year old little girl has this kind of wisdom.
One day, Reema was playing in the garden with Toni and was telling about the story of a Birthday Princess. This birthday princess loves to surprise kids especially young girls on their birthdays. She would grant their wish; what dress they would want to wear, what cake they would want to have or what birthday gift they would want to receive. She said, months before their birthday, every young girl would make a card and hang them on their window hoping that Birthday Princess would pass-by and read their card. But one day, some little girls were sad, they were crying where is the Birthday Princess? Their request were not granted.
At that moment, the young princess Serena and her king father were also playing nearby and overheard her story. They slowly searched where the little voice came from and they could not believe what they just saw. The father and daughter were smiling as they came closer to where Reema is. Reema felt a bit shy when she noticed these two guests approaching but the king said she could continue with her story.
Before she continued, Reema introduced herself first together with her doll. The king was amused and he also introduced himself and his daughter Serena. They were so fascinated with Reema and could not believe that she is just 4-years old. Serena immediately adored her and asked her to be her friend and playmate. Reema was so shocked because for the first time she would have a real friend ans playmate. She said yes and even embraced Serena. The king saw how happy these two young girls.
Serena then asked, what happened to the story? Where did Birthday Princess go? Reema's face suddenly became sad and said, the princess took a week off waiting for her own birthday present but nothing came. She knows that it's impossible because her parents could not afford it but she can only hope for the best, right? She looked at her guests with a hopeful eyes.
The king immediately got up and asked the new found friends to go to the castle and he will show them something. The two girls shouted and excitedly run to the castle. The king lead them to a room and to their surprise, it is filled with lots of different toys, cakes and dresses for young girls like them. The king said, you can eat, play and use everything lovely girls. Reema was hesitant to try a dress but Serena handed to her a pretty pink dress with sequins all over with matching shoes and accessories. Oh, they are so beautiful, am I dreaming? Reema exclaimed.
No dear, you are wide awake and all these are yours. Then the room suddenly opened and Reema's family together with the royal family and castle's staff entered and sang the birthday song. Reema hurriedly went to her parents and hugged them tight. Happy birthday our princess, her father said and kissed her forehead tenderly.
The end.
