Limited Face to Face Class
Last Thursday, the principal at my daughter's school called for a general assembly about the upcoming limited face to face class. Limited because the class will be divided into two different schedules; (A)Monday and Wednesday then (B) Tuesday and Thursday and Friday will be the evaluation wherein Class A will take the morning schedule and afternoon for Class B. They had been preparing it for months actually; following all the guidelines that the Department of Education have set and then submit all the necessary requirements just to get that A-OKAY approval from the different sectors starting from the district to the division level. The principal was so happy to announce that our school was one of the first two amongst the 26 schools in our town to finally have a face to face class.
Yesterday, we have a trial face to face class and it was not as easy like 2 years ago when covid was not yet around. The new normal will be like this:
The child must wear a facemask; no facemask, no entry.
Upon entering the school premises the child will be assisted by a parent-teacher volunteer to check and get his/her temperature and then whisk alcohol.
Then s/he will walk through the designated pathway to their classroom.
In front of their classroom, the child must fill-up a health declaration form which includes the temperature that was taken at the entrance/main gate of the school. Students who are in lower grades like mine, parents are allowed to fill-up the form for them.
The child must take off his/her mask, throw it in the trash bin designated for PPEs. And then change it to a new mask, the child can bring her own facemask or the teacher will give him/her a new one. As per protocol, the child might have been exposed to the virus while s/he is heading to school, so there's a need to change his/her facemask. (Twice the expense for facemask alone).
Inside the classroom, the child is not allowed to play around. Once s/he is seated on his/her designated chair, s/he stays there until the end of class unless s/he will use the restroom.
Student must bring his/her own snacks because the canteen will not be open or available to avoid students to gather around.
Also, the students are required to bring their own kits for the alcohol, wipes/tissue, and facemask.
At the end of the class, the kids could not leave the classroom in groups as they still need to observe social distancing.
The class will start by Monday and there will only be morning class or half-day except for Friday for the scheduled evaluation or assessment.
That's the new normal for the limited face to face class. There are a lot of changes but it's okay for now, what is more important is the kids could now go to school, meet their classmates, wear their uniform and experience being mentored and scolded (🤔😁) by their teacher.
The kids and parents have been looking forward for this to happen. There is this magic in school that a little tap in the blackboard, the kids listens. A single hush from the teacher, the kids keep quiet. A simple look from the teacher, the kids behave.
That's all for now and I shall go back yo sleep🙂.
