Japlenški vrh Forest Park

The Japlenški vrh forest park (842 m asl), with its 170 ha of surface, is an elevation located just near Delnice, west of the city. In this area, the protected nature with its natural extension, namely with the Park of King Tomislav of Delnice, enters directly into the city center and forms a natural cooling device, especially in the hot summer months. The wealth of trails, paths and streets is a value that is recognized above all through sport, recreation, training at high altitude, visits to deer reserves or simply with a walk in the greenery around the “Lovački” residence.
On the north-eastern slope of Japlenški vrh there is an old ski jump, 70 meters long, with the landing area in the city stadium. Competitions in ski jumping took place regularly from the 1950s to the 1970s. The ski jump should be renovated, or transformed into a Nordic center and, combined with cross-country skiing, which is very developed in these areas, become part of an increasingly popular skiing discipline: Nordic skiing.

The Japlenški vrh - Golubinjak Alpine Route is a real revelation for nature lovers, mountaineers, hiking and clean air lovers. It combines two protected areas: the Japlenški vrh forest park, near Delnice, and the Golubinjak forest park, near Lokve. The route is 9 km long and is well signposted, it mostly follows the Strada Luigina, even if you will always be surrounded by nature.
