Gender Roles Being So Alive in Filipino Households
Hey guys! This is aquuariyoursxx again with another topic to share with you all. If you'll like this blog, feel free to click thumbs up, comment your thoughts and subscribe if you haven't yet. Enjoy! Stereotyping of gender roles have naturally died down already in the Philippines in terms of who works for the family, who stays at home, who is weak and who is strong. A lot at this point, have already accepted that men or women, they should dou anything they can and they want to help their families. However, talking to my online friends who also lives in the Philippines, I have noticed something similar to what I'm experiencing right now. They all talk about how their family let's them do something because they're male or female. For example, the daughter in the family does the chores while the son just sits nothing because "it is what they are". *Personally, everyday is like that.* "Do this, you're a girl/boy." "You're a girl/boy, yet you don't know how to do this." "It's your job because you're a girl/boy." Using our gender as a reason to everything is very wrong. Of course telling us to do household chores is not bad,it's our job after all, but telling us to do so because we're *we?* So what if you're a girl and you don't cook well or clean the house? So what if you're a boy and you can't lift heavy stuffs? There's nothing wrong with that unless you're being lazy and not even moving a single inch. Let us not let this influence our minds. We hated the idea of gender roles, I'm sure our children soon would also have the same feeling. Let's not keep gender roles for a century more and let our offsprings suffer from such limitations. ***Anyone is capable of anything. No matter what gender you are. Do what you're best at.*** I hope you got motivated and learned a thing or two in my blog. One thing I want to thank is the community, **Get Sponsored!** Please do join our supportive community. I really hate it when someone keeps on pointing out thatbi should do that certain thing 'cause of my gender. Like dude, we are all a human being and capable of doing anything, youre not injured and such, stop wasting your time on nagging on me and just do it. Anyways, goodmlrning dear! Keep writing❤
Sameee, good morning to you too❤
Correct. Because as we grow old we could learn such things on our own step by step .. I didn't know how to cook before, but when I started to have my own family, of course I had no other choice but to cook and do the household chores. 😅
Yeah but that doesn't mean you're obliged to do that ALL THE TIME.
Yeah right. We are differ maybe of physical strengths but anybody has their strengths and weaknesses in different aspects.
Yesss, I agree. Also we have different talents regrdless of our gender, we must explore it more and improve in that field.
That's why it is not shameful if the wife is the one working an d the husband is left at home.
Yes. It's normalized now actually. At least we're slowly melting down the idea of gender roles.
Yeah but our elderly see things differently. Some might even be looking down on men staying at home.
