Some says eighteen is the first stage of adulthood. It is the legal age of everyone. In some countries, the legal age depends on their genders. Eighteen is the legal age of girls while twenty-one is for the boys. But, let's be honest here. Most of us gets somehow excited when we reach the age of eighteen because it makes us think that we can go anywhere and we can do anything. Though, it also makes us feel scared because there will be more complications that we might face as a young adults. There will be more responsibilities, and they need to be extra careful.
As you reach the age of eighteen, it is a must to celebrate it. It may be simple or elegant. Those who are lucky to have enough money throw parties. They have these 18 roses, 18 gifts, 18 candles. There were 18 guys who will dance with the debutant and then they will give a red rose before or after the dance. There are 18 wishes for the celebrant. There are some debutants who prepare to celebrate their eighteen with their friends or by traveling with their families. Some of them will go to bars and experience the life of being eighteen, they drink and dance with their friends or special someone. Some will travel abroad or in some places that they wish to visit.
Eighteen is really fun but thrilling somehow. You will meet more new faces, new personalities. You will face new opportunities, new challenges. You will learn to decide on your own, to know more about what is wrong and the right to do. There might be more hindrance to achieve your dreams. You start building goals for your future. You will practice independency. And maybe there are eighteen who move out from their parents' house to live by themselves, to find their own part time jobs so they can save up money for themselves because somehow their responsibilities change. They think more advanced than they were. They will think more than twice before they do anything they want. They might be legal for doing anything, for going everywhere. They can drive freely, walk inside the bars freely, drink with friends freely. But everything has consequences and limitations, and that is the reason that being eighteen needs to be extra careful.
Let us set aside first those, why don't we talk about our first love when we were eighteen? Have you still remember the moment when puppy loves are over for you? When you suddenly bumped to someone and then you felt like you want to know more about them? When you first held hands in front of everyone freely and not caring about what will happen next? When you stay up late at night for midnight calls? When you start imagining things for the future of the both of you? Eighteen is legality. And maybe the legality of everyone's relationships. In other countries or past generations, parents allow their children to enter a relationship when they reach the age of eighteen. And it felt so great to finally introduce your loved ones to your family. It feels blissful to have their bless for your relationship. No more sneaking for dates, no more lies to tell to your parents when you want to meet your special one. Because, now, your relationship is legal.
But, eighteen is also an upside down cycle. Some might experience their first heartbreak at eighteen. And it was so painful. Imagine, you build too much for the both of you because you believe you are destined for the future. First heartbreak. It might have hurt you so much, but I'm sure it will left a big lesson in your life. There will also disappointments and failures that you might encounter. As you grow older, your opportunities will grow. The more opportunities you have, the more responsibilities you need to take care of. For me, having more responsibilities might give you lots of disappointments as you might not finish the things that you want to be done immediately. There might be different circumstances in every stages of an individual's life. But somehow, you build memories when you were eighteen. You became happy, or maybe sad. You might be full of joy, or very tired. It might be exciting, but challenging. Still, be thankful for experiencing what you have experienced because somehow they gave lesson in your life. They made you become more stronger and matured. Don't worry too much. Have fun while working hard to reach your goals. Enjoy every stages of your life because honestly life is too short.
