Behind The Song Pt. 3

Please listen while you're reading. Thanks ♥

Tadhana - tagalog word of "destiny"

Sa hindi inaasahang
Pagtatagpo ng mga mundo
May minsan lang na nagdugtong
Damang-dama na ang ugong nito

Unique sound, soulful music, and poignant lyrics of Up Dharma Down's (UDD) songs made fans drool over and get curious about how they came up with such songs.

'Di pa ba sapat ang sakit at lahat
Na hinding hindi ko ipararanas sa'yo
Ibinubunyag ka ng iyong mata
Sumisigaw ng pagsinta

In this song, nature did help Armi Millare, the vocalist compose the hit song.

"There, I was thinking about the way I was feeling when I was climbing a mountain. And since the song is about wanting to directly tell somebody how I was feeling at the time but I could not, I just thought I'd write it," she shared.

Ba't 'di pa patulan
Ang pagsuyong nagkulang
Tayo'y umaasang
Hilaga't kanluran
Ikaw ang hantungan
At bilang kanlungan mo
Ako ang sasagip sa'ýo

She posted this on her Instagram.

The vocalist described the song as "generic" and nothing special compared to the other songs. So the people believed that what made it really outstanding was its timing. "Tadhana" was released during a time when songs were devoid of honesty, and the candid and sincere confession of the song really made it endearing to a public that was looking for something to help them overcome their own timidity.

Ba't 'di pa sabihin
Ang hindi mo maamin?
Ipauubaya na lang ba 'to sa hangin?
Huwag mong ikatakot
Ang bulong ng damdamin mo
Naririto ako't nakikinig sa'ýo

Due to the great impact of the Tadhana, it has been considered by avid UDD fans and listeners as the national anthem of Filipinos in love. It is a fine example of the emotional allure of songwriting and music in general. It’s also an example of the fickleness of creativity: sometimes, genius comes from unexpected places and unusual situations.
