Call to Standby for 2024 Election Supervision
Jakarta, General Elections Supervisory Agency – To carry out the instructions of Article 93 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning the Duties, Authorities and Obligations of Bawaslu, Bawaslu Chairperson Rahmat Bagja led the Standby Call for Supervision of the Simultaneous General Elections of 2024 throughout Indonesia on Tuesday, 14 June 2022 The Standby Call for Supervision of Simultaneous General Elections in 2024 as evidence of supervision was carried out before the General Election Commission launched the General Election Commission Regulation Number 3 of 2022 concerning the Stages and Schedule for the Implementation of the 2024 General Election which was stipulated and issued on June 9, 2022.
"The supervisor is responsible for carrying out the supervision of the stages of the general election and simultaneous elections in 2024"
The 2024 Simultaneous General Election Supervision Standby Call is the first step for election supervisors throughout Indonesia in planning and implementing the functions of prevention, supervision, and prosecution.
The Chairperson of Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja said through the Standby Call for Supervision of Simultaneous General Elections in 2024, election supervisors proved that the work under supervision had been carried out before the election stage began.
It is hoped that the 2024 Simultaneous General Election Supervision Standby Call is expected to be used as a source of motivation and enthusiasm for election supervisors throughout Indonesia in carrying out prevention, monitoring and enforcement work. From today, the Head of Bawaslu expects that the Provincial, Regency and City Bawaslu will hold joint and plenary meetings every Monday.
"On that day, the meeting every Monday can strengthen the relationship for discussion on election supervision," he said.
In addition, the 2024 Simultaneous General Election Supervision Standby Call is the first second that marks the start of the election supervisory working hours. Since the Standby Call for Supervision of Simultaneous General Elections in 2024, election supervisors throughout Indonesia have set working hours that are almost the same as working hours when carrying out the functions of prevention, supervision, and prosecution in the 2019 simultaneous elections.
"Supervision hours have started, from the RI Bawaslu level to the Provincial Bawaslu and Regency/City Bawaslu have to change their working hours," he said.
The Chairperson of Bawaslu emphasized that the supervisory form, known as Form-A, must be filled out and owned by all members of the Provincial and Regency/City Bawaslu. So that there is no discussion that leads to the throwing of responsibilities in carrying out supervisory work.
"In the future, Form-A will not only be filled by one supervisor or division, no responsibility may be transferred, all commissioners, all supervisors, have their own Form-A,"
The Chairperson of Bawaslu reminded that the 2024 election stage will begin on July 14, 2024. After that, the crucial stage will begin in September with the agenda of registering political parties participating in the election.
There is a possibility of a dispute between the candidate contesting the election and the KPU in November 2022. Therefore, the Provincial and Regency/City Bawaslu must strengthen their capabilities in investigation, monitoring, prevention, supervision, handling of alleged violations and prosecution.
"In this month to three months, fixing the organization for organizational improvement, in the future the supervisor's ability to prevent and take action is the most important thing,".
On the same occasion, the Chairperson of Bawaslu asked the Provincial and Regency/City Bawaslu to immediately cooperate with monitoring institutions, the media, the prosecutor's office, the police, and the regional government as well as related institutions in holding the 2024 elections, the stages of which intersect with the 2024 elections.
Finally, the Chairperson of the Bawaslu emphasized the Standby Call for Supervision of Simultaneous General Elections in 2024 as the initial time for supervisory working hours.
Therefore, Provincial and Regency/City Bawaslu must be in the office. Although there is a function for supervision, the Chairperson of Bawaslu hopes that there will be no vacant offices.
"We (Bawaslu) don't want to hear that the Bawaslu office is empty. Provincial Bawaslu must make improvements, with simultaneous plenary and weekly meetings, the supervisory function to see readiness and completeness and work, cannot be absent from the office. Two to three days, the Provincial Bawaslu must be in the office. Because the monitoring plan has started. Must improve the capacity of Regency/Municipal Bawaslu to increase the ability to investigate, supervise, monitor anti-money politics and hoaxes, must work together, run programs and carry out joint actions”.
