Strange man, strange is his mind mentality. The world of human thought, imagination, and meditation is full of diversity. Created by a combination of real and imagined, the path of human beings extends in many ways. But sometimes man transcends the visible behaviors and beliefs of the material world and puts his trust in miraculous and immaterial things. He wants to find a haven in the corner by spreading the world of his thoughts to the limitless imagination. There is no argument, there is no room for judgment. Trapped in the magic of irrational beliefs, man loses the power of thought and reason and surrenders to unscientific and irrational thinking consciousness. Such a state of mind is called superstition.
All the beliefs and behaviors of the human mind that have no real basis, but are rooted in the heart, which does not dwell on the corners of reasoning, but blind faith overwhelms the mind - such instincts and beliefs are called superstition. Superstition is rooted in the abyss of the human mind. It's spread and spread does not end with just one man, it is transmitted from one man to another. The superstitious person loses his creative thinking and surrenders to abound superstition. Awareness, reasoning, reality, etc. are worthless to superstitious people.
Superstitions and beliefs have come from the primitive state of man. Primitive people believed that nothing happens in the corner of nature without a reason. Behind everything, there is a definite reason why there is no action. The sudden appearance of a vulture on the head, a footprint, the croaking call of a crow, the breaking of a tree branch on the path, etc., seemed to be a sign of good or bad events to the primitive people. When these trivial events are repeated, they come to a definite conclusion about the consequences of that. This is how superstition has been created.
The people of our country believe in various superstitions. However, with the spread of education and the spread of human knowledge, prejudice among the people has come down a lot. Below are examples of some of the prevailing superstitions.
1. Male left eye and female right eye tremors are ominous symptoms.
2. Twins are born when the wife eat a pair of bananas.
3. Cat-eyed women are quarrelsome.
4. The dog's call at night is evil.
5. Black color is evil.
6.Do does not eat vegetables at night.
7. Marriage at birthday is prohibited.
8. Stumbling while leaving the house makes the journey unlucky.
9. It is forbidden for a woman to go out of the house with open hair in the evening.
Superstitions are not always the same in all regions of the same country. What is superstitious in the north may not be superstitious in the south. Again, what one or a group of people thinks is superstition may not be considered superstition to another person or group. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. The prejudices of one country may be similar to the prejudices of another. For example, in Bangladesh, if a comb falls from the hand, it is thought that guests will come to the house, but the prevailing superstition in Scotland is that when a towel falls from the hand, guests come to the house. The prevalence of superstition is noticeable in the Indian subcontinent as compared to other countries and continents of the world.
Although superstitions are born out of tribal beliefs and practices, they are largely due to illiteracy. Superstition is born in the heart of man. The heart that is deprived of education, there is more room for superstition to spread. Educated people accept the real truth by verifying everything through reasoning and reasoning. But for an uneducated person, heartfelt expression and faith are worth more than reasoning. That is why the share of superstition entering, cultivate, and expanding among them is relatively high.
Superstition is a major obstacle in the way of independent thinking and creative activities. Superstition makes people's thinking in tucking, inert, and stagnant. Superstitious people are always in a dilemma, their minds are indifferent and unmoved. In accepting the new, the superstitious man repeatedly turns his backward, obsessed with the old and conventional meditative ideas. The blind beliefs that exist in the individual's mind prevent the adoption of new and progressive thought-consciousness in many ways. Such beliefs and backwardness of the individual create stagnation in social and state life as well.
Indeed, the country and the nation can never move forward on the path of development without getting rid of superstitions. The role of superstitious individuals and society in the interest of progress in national life is undeniable. For this purpose, the first duty is to develop the common people of the country as educated and conscious citizens. The public needs to be informed about the nature of superstition. What many may not know is that the belief or idea he has nurtured in his mind is not true, not objective. Not everyone who is superstitious is uneducated or illiterate. Superstitions effect on many educated and knowledgeable people. Therefore to eradicate the superstitions of all people, educated and print media, electronic media, radio-television, books, magazines, all must come forward in this regard; The flow of free intellect must be created among the masses.
The intellectual development of our larger population is possible through freedom of thought, development of life, modern outlook, progressive mentality, the world of unwavering faith, etc to move forward in harmony with the modern world, we have to build our national life by combining modern thinking and consciousness. In this way, all superstitions must be eliminated first. Its alternative in the interest of progress is unimaginable.
