Now, if you wanna try a different genre, and not just thriller, romance, or life changing movies, here are 5 Mindblowing Movies you really need to see in this lifetime. I’m not even kidding, please go and see these masterpieces!
1. INTERSTELLAR
“Love is the one thing that transcends time and space. Maybe we should trust that, even if we cannot understand it.”
- Amelia Brandt
This scifi/adventure movie genre got a 73% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.6/10 on IMDB. It earned 701.8million USD on box office and is actually one of the best space movie I’ve watched. Its story begins when an ex-science Engineer and Pilot, Cooper, who’s tied to his farming with his 2 children when a devastating sandstorm ravage Earth’s crops. And that’s when the people on Earth realized that life in here will end as soon as their good begins to run out. And then Cooper stumbled upon NASA’s base near their home, he was offered to go on a daring mission. Cooper has that extraordinary ability to pilot spacecraft unlike the other crew members. That’s when their mission into a wormhole will start so that they can find another habitable planet in order to save the human race. Too much plot twist. Mind bending parallel universes!
2. BLACK SWAN
“The only person standing in your way is you.” - Thomas Leroy
This drama/thriller movie genre got 85% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, and 8/10 on IMDB. Earning more than 300million dollars on global box office, plus Natalie Portman won a Best Actress award on Oscar’s because of this film. Black Swan is like a loose cinematic portrayal of schizophrenia. Its story circles on a ballerina named Nina (Natalie Portman) who lives together with her overbearing mother. When the prima ballerina has been replaced for the role, Nina became the favorite. But she can’t get the role immediately because there is a new dancer who’s really impressive as well. That’s when Nina’s obsession on her deteriorating body starts and her paranoid mind collapses. Natalie Portman’s performance in here is psychotically satisfying!
3. SHUTTER ISLAND
“Which would be worse: To live as a monster, or to die as a good man?”
- Teddy Daniels
This thriller/mystery movie genre got 68% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.2/10 on IMDB, and it earned 294.8million USD on global box office. Starring Leonardo Dicarpio and Mark Ruffalo, this is one of the best suspense thriller movie of all time. Its story circles on Teddy and his partner who started to investigate a psychiatric facility on a Shutter Island after one patient goes missing. That’s when odd things begins to happen, and the movie will reveal that Teddy himself is a patient of this psychiatric facility, encouraged by his Psychiatrist to act that he’s a US Marshal hoping to dispel his delusions.
4. 1408
“Sometimes you can't get rid of bad memories, you just gotta live with them.”
- Mike Enslin
This horror/thriller film got 79% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and 6.8/10 on IMDB, earning 133million USD on box office. Its story circles on a successful author Mike Enslin who loves to debunk stories about supernaturals. Then one day, he read something about a certain room on a hotel that’s called 1408. And although he already receives a lot of warning about it, he still goes and checked in for a night and that’s when terror starts to haunt him. I literally lose my cool in this movie. Terrifying indeed!
5. ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND
“How happy is the blameless vestal's lot! / The world forgetting, by the world forgot / Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! / Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd.” - Mary Svevo
Putting the last but not the least, rather the best one of them all. This movie got a 92% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.3/10 on IMDB, earning 73millipm USD on global box office. Starring Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey, its story circles on a couple who just broken up and decided to undergo on a procedure that will erase their memories just to relieve the pain of losing someone they love. It depressingly good, extraordinary, and doesn’t just follow the usual story of a romantic comedy. And though it’s ending is super tragic in my opinion, it will make you realize that, memories aren’t just like files that’s need and can be deleted. They are more than simple thoughts, because it helps us to grow and shape our character into something worth remembering.
