9 tips to improve your focus
Thousands, tens of thousands, or so much more information is flowing in from everywhere. One of the notifications is ending, the other is raining like a waterfall.
Maybe you have dreams, but the pandemic does not allow. And frankly, you're going to do just about anything for your dreams and goals, but then you see, there's no time left. While social media has taken you prisoner or other things, today is over. Dreams are unfinished.
When you say that today is past, tomorrow is time; After a while, that state of ignorance has already turned into letting go. Even if you have the energy and time, you see that the current situation has become so relaxed and you have gotten used to it so well that both your dream and your goal have expired, and the timeout has prevailed.
Does what I'm talking about sound familiar?
Recently, in my trainings and coaching sessions, I often say “I have difficulty focusing”, “I should take a walk every day. Today I can't do it", "I want to finish this book, but I read at most 2 pages, then my mind goes to other things" I hear a lot of similar topics from you.
How can some athletes, artists, managers, or someone in our environment be highly focused, while distractions come at us with all their might? Based on all these thoughts, I wanted to share a little with you on focusing.
Firstly…
How strong of a craving do you feel?
Whatever you want to focus on, how much do you want it? What is its importance and value to you? What kind of result will you meet when you are fully focused, and what will this result add to your life? Visualize the answers to all these questions, and if you are excited and excited about the gains it will bring you, you are one step closer to focusing.
Distractions out the door!
What are your distractions? How possible is it for you to remove distractions for a moment the moment you focus? For example, turn off your cell phone notifications (audible ones if possible), keep your cell phone out of the room. During the focusing time, stick a note on the door, such as "Do not disturb for an hour please"...
Give yourself time and hug yourself affectionately.
If you are learning a skill and trying to focus on it, are there some internal/external barriers to your focus? Take a look. Acquiring a skill happens when you perform a certain amount of repetitions (remember the 21-day rule). Even if you make mistakes in this process, have motivating conversations with yourself. Ask for supportive and constructive feedback from your environment. Keep those who share the opposite a little distance from your environment.
Find your beliefs that support you.
In the meantime, check your beliefs. Everyone learns everything, although focus and repetition times vary. But if you have beliefs such as "I can't do this", please get individual support.
Practice meditation and being present.
Learn to improve your attention to focus. Just like a muscle. Meditation and staying in the moment exercises will increase your focus time. Incorporating certain routines into your life in this regard increases your focus times in other areas.
Self-awareness exercises always work.
Do self awareness exercises. Knowing yourself, discovering the shining and somewhat faded sides of your inner world, looking at yourself from the outside, working on your values will enable you to reveal more clearly what is important to you in life. All this work helps you focus on yourself first.
If you're tired, take a break.
Take a break. Listen to music, go out into nature. Take care to be present. Pay attention to what you see, hear and smell there at that moment. If your mind wanders, gently invite it into the moment.
Get coaching.
Coaching is also the art of focused thinking. Getting regular coaching to strengthen your focus muscles will positively affect you and your life.
Ask yourself questions.
Please ask yourself these questions: What is the cost of not being able to focus right now? What opportunities might you be missing? What do you have in your life that will excite you and increase your dedication?
Whatever you give your focus to, magnifies it and you get results from it. If you are dividing your attention into a thousand and one pieces during the day outside of your life goals, take a look at the results you get. If you are not satisfied with the results, starting with learning to focus first will improve the quality of your life.
Always remember: “Life blooms at the point you focus on, it comes to life.”
With love…
