What I do when I get to work after months working from home.

Cold air in the morning wakes you up.

Being back at working in the office after 2 months being away I had thought would be hard to get myself out of bed to have a shower and change into office clothes but I am quite proud I had no qualms with being awake and lucid walking to the train station. It helps of course the air is brisk at a cold 8 degrees Celsius. The eyes and the skin are wide awake without any coffee when you are walking to get warm.

Surprising detail is the toes are feeling like they are about to experience frost bite especially when I am not wearing my thick boots. This is another story to begin with. I am thankful there is no more fog coming out of my mouth as I breathe out, spring is really here for me to enjoy summer in the coming months ahead.

The trains are running.

A week before the trains to work were all cancelled from some sort of industrial dispute, damned communists! LOL no I am not hating on people wanting more pay as long as I will not end up paying more to use the trains just so the drivers are paid more in the end. I mean how can I support something like that when I myself will not get the benefit in the long run. Greed is not evil for the one getting the benefits they are aiming for and the bystanders are the ones who will get to see how it will be taken. I digress... sorry.

Well the trains were not as packed as I had remembered when we were told to work from home in the middle of winter. I had noticed the numbers on the trains were growing but on Monday that was not the case since I was easily able to get a seat, of course I am wearing a mask because since now it is easily acceptable socially with no one batting an eye to anyone wearing one. In fact I have always been in favor of wearing masks on public transport since airconditioned settings are recycled air being pumped with everyone's breath being part of the air you are breathing in and out. This feeling was before the pandemic. I an again digressing...

The warm office.

I get to work and straight away I am greeted by a desolate place, I think Mondayitis reared its head on everyone because there are hardly anyone on the floor. The lights were almost all out and the seats were mostly empty.

'Did you not get the memo?'

No idea if they got the memo or just refused to get out of bed since the warmth of the blankets can sometimes stop you from getting out onto the cold air outside. Well I was thankful anyway that I had no problems since I am now in a warm office. Free heating is always better than one you pay for at home while you work. Of course wearing pajamas while doing work has its perks, we all know wearing something professional is also a great motivator to get work done.

After the initial set up of logging in to my desktop and phone I am greeted by my long lost workmate to coffee. Of course I delay for 2 seconds, enough time to press the lock key and put my jacket back on. My boss looks at me with that expectant smile, knowing well the importance of drugging me up with that dark gold . Double shot and full of caffeine I am zinging and doing a hundred miles an hour typing away at anything and everything my buzzed eyes and brains can handle.

What did I learn from this? Well the simple answer is I am more motivated to do things after a cup of coffee. Maybe.

While reading this article my friend, I missed working at the office. I missed those days that I wake up early to prepare myself going to work. God bless your work friend.
