Went to NUSS to play pickleball in the morning recently.
After the games, I had a shower and went to the pool side café for lunch. Some guy was pretending to work with this setup of his monitors and laptop on the same screen for hours.
I had a chicken rice which was quite good.
Had a cold cheng tng for dessert.
Got a lift to home from a friend who was stopping to buy some stuff from Pasea Panjang wholesale centre. Always wanted to either check out the place so it just was a good opportunity.
First place we went had mostly vegetables.
I went into the cold room to check out what else they have.
Other veggies they also have tofu items.
Bought these for $8.30.
Next went to another place that has mainly fruits.
They even have fruits from Japan like strawberries in the fridge.

前几天早上去了新加坡国立大学协会会所打匹克球。
打完球后，我洗了个澡，然后去泳池边的咖啡厅吃午饭。有个家伙假装在工作，用他的显示器和笔记本电脑连着屏幕看了好几个小时。

Out of Singapore Expo after a pickleball clinic a few Sundays ago, went to this Killiney inside the supermarket.
Instead of using their kiosk to order, I decided to sit inside and order it online.
Quite a bit of people there.
Sat down and scan the menu.
Ordered a sweet and sour fish with rice set for about $10.
Waited for a while for the food and drinks.
The sweet and sour fish with rice was really not as good as I hoped for and my expectation wasn't high.

Attended an "Introduction to drone programming course" recently.
Fun to finally experience first take off and landing after lunch.
The first assignment is where we fly around to survey a site on fire. Then went to the fire station to pick up water to put up the fire.
Final test was flying around to rescue some lost animals. Overall conclusion for the course. Fun experience but not recommended because the so-called Python programming part was only a short 15 minute video at most. I wasn't the only one who was disappointed.

最近参加了一个“无人机编程入门课程”。
午饭后终于体验了第一次起飞和降落，感觉很棒。
第一个作业是飞到一处着火地点进行勘察。然后去消防站取水灭火。
最后的考核是飞到一处地方营救走失的动物。总的来说，这门课程体验不错，但不推荐，因为所谓的Python编程部分最多只有15分钟的视频。失望的不止我一个。

Went to the food court to get some food.
Bought a clay pot vegetarian noodle.
Went to the club to waste some time with an aloe vera lime.
Then went to fourth floor at Funan Mall to play a mini pickleball tournament
The place is small and the court too.
Not a lot of space outside the baseline and side line. After a bit of warm up for all, the first of the knockout matches started. My partner and I watched as we waited for our match, which was last of the knockout matches. The other players were also waiting outside. It was still a fun play that we didn't make it to the next round.
However, this is not a court I would book for my own play because the space around the court is too tight and the fees are expensive.

在花拉公园匹克球场做完志愿者工作后，我去了滨海广场。那里正在举办气球活动。
去了食阁吃点东西。
买了一碗砂锅素面。
去了俱乐部，喝了一杯芦荟青柠汁消磨时间。 。
然后去了福南购物中心四楼参加小型匹克球锦标赛。
场地很小，球场也很小。
底线和边线外的空间不多。大家热身之后，第一场淘汰赛开始了。我和我的搭档一边观看比赛一边等待我们的比赛，我们的比赛是淘汰赛的最后一场。其他选手也在外面等候。虽然我们没能晋级下一轮，但比赛仍然很有趣
不过，我不会预订这个场地自己打球，因为球场周围的空间太狭窄，而且费用很贵。

Here I was again going to Singapore Expo.
Heading to hall 7.
Almost reaching the entrance.
Went into the hall.
Saw padel courts first.
Finally, found the pickleball courts. Went to register.
Then took a selfie.
Got some bananas and a bags with a few pairs of socks in it.
Tried a pair of shoes because they had 30% discount. They didn't have the black colour I wanted though the size 8 fits OK.
This would be the court I would start playing at.
Walked towards the end to go the toilet first.
Out of the toilet.
Going back to the first court.
These courts were nicer with more seats for spectators.
The session started and we break up into groups of 8 players in a court.
The first 15 minutes was a bit of warm up and then we break into teams of 4 to play against each other for about 15 minutes game for an hour. There was some tips for certain people but I had to say it was no much of a workshop that I expected. The next hour, we were broken into groups of 8 and played the dreambreaker format for 15 minutes. Then the winning team move up to next court and losing team move down to another court. We lost one, then won 3 continuously and lost two. By then, although I enjoyed the game play, I already concluded the workshop was really below my expectation and I wasn't the only one who expected to see a professional player here. Disappointed for sure.

Going to Thomson Community Club again for pickleball. Passed by this place with interesting name.
This time I was there for a pickleball tournament.
I went to McDonald's to buy a hashbrown and a coffee before going up to the 3rd floor.
The women's doubles category was play. Some of my friends were there.
After registration, I got a bag with two mandarin oranges.
The 1st senior mixed doubles match started.
I sat to watch.
Later, I was given a lunch voucher.
Played 3 matches. Won the first match, lost the second to a team who had won tournament before. The last match was closer but we made a bit more mistakes than usual so didn't make it to the 2nd round.

Got off the bus to go to Thomson Community Club to try pickleball where I'll be playing tournament next month.
It's across the road but I have to walk to a pedestrian crossing to get to the other side.
Reach there and look for the place. It's not the multipurpose hall at the first floor.
Though I found a McDonald's at the first floor.
I went up to the third floor.
Found the place.
I headed to the toilet first.
Went out and found a water dispenser nearby to fill my water bottle.
There were three pickleball courts there but the place is used for different purpose at different times. I found that when facing the outside, the glare made it difficult to see the ball sometimes.

Sunday was the day before Chinese New Year eve. We had came to accept that my father in law who passed away a few weeks ago will not be with us for the first time during Chinese New Year. So, there wasn't much celebration to prepare. Before I went to my mother in law's place I just went to a Thai restaurant to buy some food.
Waited outside for a while before the food was ready.
We had a pineapple fried rice and a Thai style vermicelli.
Bought some stuffed chicken wings which I had wanted to try for quite a while. They were not as good as I hope for.

Headed to the club when it was raining after pickleball games at my old school. As it was still raining, I went to the pool side café to get some chicken satay and a ginger tea for dinner.

Waited a few hours and the rain stopped but the courts were still too wet.
I thought it was going to be a wash out but the staff dried the courts and we eventually get to play. Happy enough.

在以前的学校打完匹克球后，我去了俱乐部，当时正在下雨。因为雨还在下，我就去了泳池边的咖啡厅，点了鸡肉沙爹和姜茶当晚餐。
晚餐花了大约14元。
等了几个小时，雨停了，但是球场还是太湿。
我以为球局要泡汤了，但是工作人员把球场擦干了，我们最终还是打完了球。挺开心的。

Back to my old school. First time I drove there.
It has been decades.
This was the school field where I had my PE lessons.
The seating area next to the school field.
Better record my presence. Back then, we don’t even have cameras with digital technology.
One more with the building before the school moves to Punggol.
The sheltered courts are at the far end next to the field. We set up 4 portables and started playing pickleball.
Some old school pickleball paddle were provided for beginners to try the sport.
The toilets and water dispenser are at the other end of the field next to the chin up bars.
Played a good number of games.
It was so windy one time that the net was blown over twice.
It started to rain. When I left it was heavier but thankful to be able to play in the sheltered courts.
Goodbye to the place where we used to say "good morning" a lot and sang the national anthem and school song.

学校为初学者提供了一些老式的匹克球拍，让他们体验这项运动。

有一次风特别大，球网被吹倒了两次。
开始下雨了。我离开的时候雨下得更大了，但很庆幸能在有遮雨棚的球场上打球。

My father in law was in and out of hospital from October last year for one issue after another. He had difficulty breathing a few weeks ago and we sent him there. After more than a week with additional complication of lung infection and pneumonia, the doctors said he was not doing well and might not make it and had advise family members to visit him as much as possible. From last Friday, they sounded more serious. My wife wanted to stay with him but she is also worried about her mother at home. So I told her to go home and look after her mother while I stayed close by in the hospital. On Sunday, I walked away to get a coffee late night. Everything was cloed but they have a 24 hour vending machine cafe with a coffee bot.
I went to get a latte. Cost $3.80. Not cheap but not very expensive.
There is a multiple purpose hall I discovered sometime back and went to find some peace with Buddha.
There was a full moon outside. Later in the morning, before my wife came, the doctor came and sounded serious enough again. I asked her how much time did she think he still have after she had been preparing us for the worst in the past few days even when we were praying for the best. She said about a few hours. My wife came and we stayed with him for a while and could see him still breathing heavily. We went to get some lunch and went back to see him. He still was breathing heavily. We were talking for a while and my wife suddenly told me he didn't seem to be breathing. I asked my wife to call for the doctor and I went to feel his pulse and could not feel any. The doctor came and saw him but didn't do anything and said he had to call a senior doctor who came another 15 minutes later to certify my father in law had left us. 🥲

For my $5.50 chicken rice set, I chose to have some bean sprouts and tau kwa with chicken rice. After lunch, went to the hospital to visit my father in law. The doctor said he is in critical condition and told us to prepare for the worse. We are still praying for him.
