Virgin Island

With stunning waterfalls, gorgeous beaches and the well-known famous Chocolate Hills, the province of Bohol is one of the top tourist attractions in the Philippines. One of the most popular tourist spot is the Virgin Island of Panglao. Panglao and Bohol are two nearby islands connected through two bridges. It take about 20 kilometers from Tagbilaran City away to Panglao Island.

This is the aerial view of Virgin Island. This is one of the most iconic islands destination in Bohol, lies in the middle of the relatively shallow area between Balicasag and Panglao Island.

Its main draw a lengthy sand bar that curls and fades into the sea like a tail of a mischievous tadpole. The sandy runway makes a postcard perfect backdrop.

The location of this island is a little far from the island of Panglao. Its take 10 minutes boat ride from the Alona Beach Resort in Panglao. You can also ride their shuttle from Panglao Port. Do take note that they only accept passenger starting 9 in the morning. You'll be given a priority number that will be called when its your turn to board a boat. The shuttle is available from 9 am to 2 pm with their last call at 3 pm going back to Panglao port.

The Virgin Islands is a small strip of white sand with no vegetation on it make this island unique, sorrounded by the clearest water you've ever seen. The water sorrounding the island is pretty shallow and you can head further from the chaos and enjoy some privacy. The water here is incredibly clear.

Further, you'll fine a one hectare long sandbar that will truly make you feel like you're in paradise. You can also walk to the end of the sandbar to fully embrace the serenity.

It is recommended to visit the island in the morning during weekdays if you some alone time. But nonetheless, it doesn't get too crowded so its still alright to visit in the afternoon. So dont forget to bring sunscreen, this is the most important thing you should have with you when visiting Virgin Island. The sun here is very strong and it will damage your skin if you won't wear sunscreen.
