You are seeing some beggar, who looks healthy. Now out of sympathy you just give him some money, since he says he is damn hungry. This is called sympathy.

After he is given the food, you are asking him that you look healthy and why don't you do some work to earn. He says that he tried job at so many places and he didn't get any. Now you found out what has led him to begging. Through your source you find some civil engineer, and make the beggar to work there. You found this beggar was genuine in not getting a job and you have organized this. This is about empathy. You found out what's the reason for begging and helped him.

But some people without even taking an effort, out of laziness they beg. If you sympathize them with money, they will be encouraged to beg for ever. Apply empathy and if he is found lazy, never help him. Situations will force him to go for work. we are giving solutions to your personal issues relate to overcoming of depression, anxiety, fear, negative thoughts, stress , emotional disturbances, indecisiveness, and help in creating a calm realized mind.

Very well said.. some aren't working because of their laziness, they prefer to beg than to work. Some are really trying hard to look for money, but not lucky enough to have one due to it's lack of experience or education.

I rather help those hardworking beggar than those who are just sitting on the streets to ask for money the whole day..

I liked the interesting article. I think that sympathy is a gesture without getting involved now empathy requires more inquiring action that leads a person to fall in the limit of having to beg for food or subsistence. Thank you for sharing

Often that two terms were being confused. When you saw someone in pain or in sorrow you feel sorry for them but you don't know what is like to be in his position that's sympathy. While in empathy it's when your putting yourself into the shoes of the other.
