Chemical weathering
The processes most commonly involved in chemical
weathering are listed in Table 3.1. Their rate of operation
depends upon the presence of water and is greater in wet
climates than in dry climates.
Except where bare rock is exposed, the surface on
which rain falls consists of the soil which forms the upper
part of the weathered layer.
